Tonight I was showing off my new to me 2005 F250, 6.0L, cc, sb, Lariat to my neighbor (he has a 03 F250, 5.4, cc, sb, 4x4, xlt). As we were looking everything over, I noticed that I was missing something that my 2003 F250, 7.3L, cc, sb, Lariat had. On the 2003 the rear leaf springs seemd to have one more leaf and it had a 2 inch diameter rubber stop that showed signs of touching the leaf spring at some point. I do not have this on my 2005. Did they change the leaf spring design or am I missing something?
I don't know if it was rare, the 7.3 to 6.0 change over was sometime midyear or a little earlier. My friend bought a new 2003 I think May/April of that year and his is a 6.0. I loved my 03 7.3 but some a-hole needed to text while driving his 97 F350, 7.3L, cc, lb, 4x4, dulley and rearend me stopped in traffic and he hit me at 50-60 miles per hour. Needless to say the frame was diamond and the insurance wrote it off.
Thanks for your replies, did the "B" code include a swaybar too?
Given all the other deletions on an '05 (front door puddle lights, hood pad, rear fenderliners, etc.) Ford may have deleted the overload spring as another cost saving method.

Wrong.
The overloads were optional on F250's. Depending on how the truck was optioned. Every 05+ F350 I've seen has them, I believe they were standard on the 1 tons.
My Dad bought is 6.0L in spring of '03. The dealership had about 10 SD's w/ the 6.0L on the lot at the time and about 20 with the 7.3L. Rare? Definitely not, but at the time he bought his the sales manager at the dealership said the 7.3's they had on the lot were the last they'd be getting in.
Nope, I think in early 2003 the SDs offered a 7.3 or a 6.0L. Could be wrong about that.
Ford started building 2003 7.3L trucks in mid July, 2002. In Noveber, 2002, production of the 7.3L stopped and the next day production started on the 6.0L. Dealers would have had both engines on their lots for some time.
