After telling a buddy of mine about the front end of my 03 F250 5.4L CC SB feeling pretty loose he said; in his they built the truck with the 1/2 ton leaf springs instead of the correct 3/4 ton springs. The front of the truck does droop a little but from what I hear they are supposed to look that way. I did a search through the forums and didn't come up with much. Just wondering if anyone else had these springs replaced, or if my buddy think he knows more than he does. The later of the two is probably more correct
Looking at my 2003 manuals for the F150 and Super Duties, the front "springs" for an F150 4x4 are torsion bars so they obviously didn't use that. The rear springs for the 150's are only 2.5" wide where as the Super Duties are all 3" wide. If you measure your front springs and they are 3" wide, then they are most likely the correct type. No? (unless they used 2004 F150 springs which are now 3" wide, but less likely on a 2003 F250)
Thanks for the info - any other ideas on what might cause it? ive been looking at replacing the shocks and adding a steering stabilizer - my 250 didn't come stock with one. think that would help?
I've got t's - I'm going to be adding a plow this winter (8' Fisher) Adding heavier springs - would that increase stability and control??? And would that raise the front end a bit? and last but not least, how much???
