Yeah, the commissioner refused to allow the call to be overturned. I don't blame the ump, as anyone that doesn't make a mistake occasionally isn't doing much.
At least the sports newsworld acknowledges that the pitcher did do an amazing feat, though it won't actually go into the record books that he did.
The pitcher also got a brand new corvette from a local dealer, and will be long remembered by fans.
The really amazing thing about his "perfect" game, is that of the 20 that have happened in the last ~100 years, 2 of them have been in the last month. This should have been the most historic perfect game ever. A young pitcher, just called up from the minors, throwing the 3rd perfect game in under 5 weeks time. All of that actually happened, but a mistake will prevent it from becoming a truely significant record in the history of the game. granted, it will very likely be noted in the record book, but may never be entered as an "Official" record.
I have plenty of air tools and a compressor. I also have some different pairs of gloves (technically not mechanics gloves) that I wear from time to time (not always). But I sometimes like to wear those latex nitrile gloves, when I'm doing an oil change or such. But I really prefer to feel with my fingers. I just hate cleaning the crap from under my nails.
I use my air tools as much as possible, wears me out less. I use a upright compressor that holds 55 gallons and two holding tanks, one 80 gallons and one 35 gallon. I almost never run out of air. Next thing is to buy a dryer so when I paint I don't get moisture in the line. And I have about 200 feet of hose.
I've tried a couple different kinds of gloves from mechanics and both fell apart on me. Most of the time I use real cowhide leather gloves, or if it's in small places, my bare hands, have the scarred up hands to prove it
I use my impact alot when dealing with rusty hardware (like in suspension components and lawnmower blades mostly), I have a nice air ratchet but not enough air supply to do anything with it.
I do have a couple pairs of mechanics gloves, and I use them for pulling weeds lol. Prefer to feel what I'm doing when doing mechanical work, and if my hands get really dirty, then that is why god invented FastOrange hand cleaner.
a lot of times, i just use my hands, like when changin oil or somethin. i DO have a pair of mechanix gloves though, and they work great. (when they are new, they work well to take the chill off the -20 degree part your holdin too.) the only issue that ive had with em, is that ive got a hole in one finger and on the heel of one glove. they dont seem to like battery acid too well... (along with everything else i was wearin that day... )
Gloves get in the way when dealing with tight locations, and you don't have as good of a feel, making it harder to do some things.
I have a pair, but rarely use them, unless the weather is quite cool, or the item I working on is a bit warm.
Don't have air tools, but love it when they are available for me to use.....
