As far as carry in the truck I usually either wear my PT-111 in a high-rise belt holster or keep my TCP .380 in a cargo pocket on my right leg...my hand is always on the shifter so it's a quick draw to either. As far as when i HAVE to leave my gun in the truck, I got a little lock box big enough for a full sized automatic that is tethered to the seat post and slides under the bench. Steve, check your local laws as far as how you can carry the pistol in the truck. Here in Ohio it either has to be holstered on your person, in a locked box, or in a box/bag with a lid and snap/latch/zipper closure or in the center console or glove box. In my last vehicle I would keep my .38 in the center console with the lid open, that way if a cop lit up his disco lights behind me i could just nudge the lid closed with my elbow and be legal when he made it up to the car. I recommend you go to gunrightsradio.com and join the forums there and ask some of the people how they carry, you may get information you wouldn't find here. good luck brother.

I've heared some good ideas but am still not sold on anything yet. Any more ideas?
Ford just has some eff'ed up seats. Period. My wife bought a new '09 Lincoln MKS. It has the most uncomfortable and unusable seats of any vehicle I've ever owned. I have only driven it twice. Once to tell her if she buys this car it is too uncomfortable and I can never drive it. The second time was afer she bought it to double check and confirm my first opinion. Just to make sure I was not over reacting. Nope. It's still a POS.

I've said it earlier in this thread, but I'll say it again.. Legality is not a problem for me. I just want some way to carry that I can get to quickly if need be, but still out of sight for the most part.

As far as the seats, I love them. They are the most comfortable seats I've ever been in, in any make of vehicle. I just can't carry my pistol in my paddle holster because of the way they wrap around my back. I'm not complaining about the seats or the truck at all. I am looking for a way to adapt my carrying style to the truck.

What the hell are you looking for then. 99.99% of us cannot carry. You say you are satisfied with the Ford seating. So that only leaves holster and fat *** issues. This thread has got to go to GNAC....

No wonder the U.S. is plagued with violence, everyone wants to carry a gun.
I know this is going to **** some of you off, but think about it.
Unless your hunting, why bother.

Here, in the United States of America, we have a wonderful document called The Constitution.
The Second Amendment reads:
Amendment 2 - Right to Bear Arms. Ratified 12/15/1791.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Now, for my personal opinion -
The militia, during the early days of our country was every able-bodied man and man-child, capable of carrying arms in defense of their families and the country, from all enemies - foreign and domestic.
Our country's framers were very smart.
They knew that an un-armed populace are not citizens, they are subjects.
Also an armed populace is the best way to halt a tyrannical government.
They knew that for this country to survive, these citizens needed a way to protect themselves, because the law couldnt' be everywhere, all the time. (See Bill W's comments about not being able to carry a cop. They're too darned heavy!!)
Also, when seconds count, the police are minutes away. (More truth to this than you will ever understand!)

I don't get it!
Unless you live here, you won't 'get it'.
We are Americans.
Look carefully at the word American.
It ends in I Can.
See my comments directly above your quote.

As for concealed carry. . . . try to locate an Askins Avenger. It used to be marketed by Bianchi.
I've carried my Combat Commander under a 'camp shirt', and you can't tell that it's there.
Concealed carry and in a car or truck. Very comfortable holster.

You could also go all "Sledgehammer" and get a cross-draw shoulder holster, that would solve your hip-carry issues with your seat. LightningRyan, we carry to defend ourselves and our loved ones from criminals. In America 2.5 million crimes a year are stopped by armed citizens. No, we don't "wave it around" or do any of the other idiotic suggestions you made, but we (as a country) generally shoot a few criminals a day with them. I'm guessing you're a Canadian...I find it interesting that your crime rate is almost twice ours, yet there are so fewer guns, and guns are really the cause of crime aren't they? Oh damn..that means all of mine are defective!

Bravo Keith for your response to Aviva, And LightninigRyan's posts, and for any others that are of like minds. And as far as a girls perspective on their comments ... try not having manly muscles to make you feel secure, and I guess you've never been raped. These are just two of the many reasons why I carry.

wow, that is very cool! So, where can I find the handgun laws that michigan has?? I agree with all of you, seeing how I am so into the shooting sportsTo me guns are not the cause to problems, but the stop or solution to them. Just really don't take it the wrong way lol! I don't hunt humans, but I don't need them hunting me.

I don't have anything to offer as far as a comfortable holster for driving as I lay my Beretta Cougar 8000 on the center seat with a black hand towel over it. I cover my seats with black towels anyhow to protect them from my dirty work clothes. The Cougar is 34 oz and bulky but I'm quite fond of it. No way to comfortably holster it on my right side while driving. Concealed means covered. It doesn't mean there can't be a bump in my shirt tail or seat cover.
Years ago I woke up in the ER after being left for dead in a parking lot. Long painful recovery. A few years later I walked to the deli for a sandwich and was mugged on the way back home. CC and proper use of a firearm is only part of what I've learned to avoid another incident. Recognizing and avoiding the threat is plan A. Using whatever force is necessary to stop the threat is plan B. I've only had to draw a gun on one person in my life. He backed down. It worked. No ER and no loss. I was not Yosemite Sam. I was scared and shaking and yelling at him to back off. I'm built like Sam Elliott. He was built like Mr. T and had a pretty good sized knife to boot. It was in my own freakin' drive way! He was "sure" I was pursuing his wife and had lost all composure. His wife would have made a buzzard throw up. Not a chance. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia and later died of congestive heart failure. Had he a gun, I would have unloaded my mag on him hopefully first. Not for a glorious gun fight but for fear of my own life. So for me it's not a macho thing. It's a tool I use for self defense not much different than the glasses I use to see with. If I were Steven Seagal, I probably wouldn't carry. I'd just snap their arms and swagger away into the night with a beautiful asian gal!

Check out this site: DefensiveCarry Concealed Carry Forum My wife is a member on there, members there have tested and reviewed nearly every holster made, and there are several custom holster makers on there. South Fork Holsters is local to me, my wife has one from them and it's sweet. Not cheap, but worth it.
I'm still waiting on my concealed carry permit, but have a few options on what to carry, ranging from a couple different 380s to a couple different 9mm, I do normally open carry my 1911 in a woven nylon drop leg holster though. This has been the most comfortable for me, especially with that heavy of a gun, and also does not interfere with stuff in my pocket.
As far as safety- Think of proper gun safety like the other deadly weapon you operate daily- your car or truck. A person with no training or real knowledge can get in and start driving, and will most likely cause an accident or even kill someone. Now, why don't you have that issue? You've been trained. You know the responsibilities you have out on the road, and you know what to do in many different situations. Carrying a gun is no different. Without training, you should not carry. With proper training, you have another tool at the ready and are an asset to the community.

over here in the UK as a lawabiding citizen you cant carry anything that can be deemed as an offensive weapon, especially guns and knives even a screwdriver could get you up in front the judge if the cops abit moody, the only people that carry are the bad guys and a small amount of cops, i would love to be in the position of being able to carry to defend myself and have the problem the op has,but i have to hope that i can outwit the bad guy if the situation arises! altho i do have a 3foot snap on breaker bar in my truck but thats "only" for undoing the wheel nuts if i get a flat!!

Big night in Tortonto yesterday, 3 separate shooting. Liberal halfwits will be out in full force demanding more gun control. Not that that ever stopped crininals from getting guns and hurting people.

As for the carry position, I drive a Vic and the most easy and comfortable place for me is in the small of my back. I have found a pair of pants that for some reason sews a loop that fits my 40 perfect. I have easy access to it, even while sitting in my car.

As for you no gun freaks, I will give you another. A while back, I stopped at a light in Charleston, WV. Two clowns approached me. I could sense that something was not right. I immediately drew my weapon, but kept it below the door panel. One of the clowns produced a knife and demanded my car. Yeah right, dumb *** bring a knife to a gun fight. As the barrel of that 40 came up, I thought both of them were going to sheet right there. I did give both the option to run and suffer the consequences or just lay down on the ground. They chose the latter.

When the local LEOs arrived, I was only asked a few questions. Both were arrested. I did go to the station to sign the report. While there, I found out that one of the perps (one with the knife) was a dealer from Detroit and they had been looking for him. When I told the cop that I wish I had known, he asked me why. I then told him that he would have had a lot of paperwork and I mean a lot if I had known.

I think he got my point. I would have shot his *** on the spot. The only good drug dealer is a dead one! I have had it with these out of state hoodlums bringing that **** into my state. No jury will send you to jail for taking one of them out.

It's no longer self-defence when you shoot them in the back.

Talking

In stopping a car jacking, shooting them in the *** is a deterrant to make sure they stand trial for what they attempted. No jury will convict you for that.

I just hope that my aim is good, because I would attempt to shoot dead center at the bottom of their *** checks so I could denut them at the same time. It should be an easy shot as most walk around with their bloomers hanging out anyway......Shooting them that way, they cannot make more like them. Damn wannabe prison biatches!
