I am not a fan of stashing a gun in a vehicle. If you get car jacked, you might not have a chance to get at it. Also it encourages you to leave it in the vehicle when you get This is the best concealment holster I have found: SmartCarry - Concealed Gun Holsters I have carried everything from a small j-frame revolver to Glock 22 and Sig P220 with these holsters. It offers the ultimate concealment and unlike inside the belt holsters when you sit down it doesn't poke you in the gut.

Just noticed t the same place sells holsters just for vehicles, scroll to the bottom of the page.

My only problem with the door cubbies is that I am right handed... Doesn't do me a lot of good in the driver's seat even though I have always tried to practice drawing left handed (doesn't normally work too well)... Not to mention, it is still very visable every time you open the door.
I am considering just switching to a shoulder rig, like the Galco Miami. I'm just not wild about always having to wear a zip/button up jacket or sweater.

If you are going to carry concealed..............CARRY CONCEALED!......Get used to carrying, don't immediately take it out upon getting in vehicle or home. Practice and familiarize yourself with carrying until it is second nature.............The pistol stashed in the truck does NO good when you are 50yds from it, and that once in a lifetime threat emerges!

I don't think the U.S. is dangerous at all (in general), especially not enough to require a weapon.

However, I don't hate on anybody carrying a gun, and is level-headed enough to use it strictly for self-defense.

I was told crime rates are low in Texas because many people have guns in their homes, and you don't want to rob one of those homes.

Here in Virginia, you can't carry concealed in some places, so sometimes I have to leave my firearm in the vehicle. I need to get a lock box and locate it in the cab somewhere - maybe under a seat - for those situations. Otherwise, I just keep it on me when I'm out for a drive, that way, I don't have to make any "adjustments" when I get out. I'm already armed and ready to go.

For any of you in Virginia - I own a forum at Virginia Gun Owners Forum where we have frequent discussions such as this.

I carry Kimber 1911 compact in a Milt Sparks executive companion holster and all is well in my truck. I cant even tell it's there. Here in Idaho we pretty much do what we want when it comes to guns.

No wonder the U.S. is plagued with violence, everyone wants to carry a gun.
I know this is going to **** some of you off, but think about it.
Unless your hunting, why bother.
I carry because it's my right and a right that I have served this country for 15 years to protect. I may never need it and I hope I don't but should the need arise I will protect myself and family when/if the time comes.

I have moved around the country for the last 15 years. Some places I felt the need to carry and some places I don't. I'm currently stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA and don't leave home without it. When I retire and move back to the small town I grew up in I probably won't carry because the crime rate is low there.

That's a great pistol. I've been saving up to get the same thing.

Much less crime (we do have much less population though), and much different gun laws, and laws in general about carrying a weapon.

I didnt mean to hijack either, and didnt mean to get into a debate about it, its just surprising how different a couple of countries like ours can be!
