Dillins Build Thread

well i failed today, it was to nice to be workin in side. so i kept getting distracted. but i do have it all tacked together and i changed my design,i have not made the changed to the metal yet. Instead of running it all the way to the flange, im just going to make it flow better, so it doesnt look like a 20 leg spider is sitting ontop of my diff cover, i should have pictures tomorrow though. i just hate grinding and cutting with a passion, but i do have a tad bit of modivation to go finish it though.

well i decided to go out and get to a point where it didnt look terrible. so here is a pic of it right now, and other parts of my build, but i still have to grind on it, the height levels of the fins arent where i want them yet, and they dont look precise at all so still got some clean up grindin left to do, right now got about 3 hours into it

If you want a cover that will actually do something I made I quick and dirty out of an extra cover.
I basically cut out the ring gear portion and stacked on my cover to make twice as thick for protection in that area. I then plug welded the fill hole then cut out the other fill plug with some material around it and welded it onto the other cover just to raise the fill hole so you can add more fluid needed for a diff that has been rotated up to get oil to the pinion bearing. All function not just looks...

That diff cover actually saved my *** in a 4 wheelin comp! I must of back up into a big *** rock and after i finished my run i noticed the cover had a really big dent on the bottom side of ring gear. My pit crew wanted to take the cover off but I said Leave IT if it hasnt done anything yet just let it be. After the weekend was over I took it off and the inside of cover had a small scrape line fron ring gear rubbing just enough for it touch then just wear away until it was clear again. If it wasnt for that extra cover piece welded on it would of wrecked my weekend!
