I was in my old blaser coming back from a 4 wheelin trip in the mountains, when a deer attacked us. lol It was running across the road from the right , I went across the highway and into the ditch, and it still hit about 6 inches in front of the passenger door opening ( no doors or top on this rig) and swung around and hit the back of the door opening. My son in law had vacated the passenger seat and was in the back of the blaser. I had a hard time getting it under control, because I was laughing so hard.
Had a doe (head) jump out in front of us when my Dad was driving home late at night in his GMC. Stupid thing looked our way and then started trotting across the road. Even the fawns she left behind were looking at her like she was nuts.
Dad practically pushed the pedal through the floor but hydroboost and all, it turned to mush thanks to the ABS. Last minute steering prevented a hit on my side. I hardly felt any real deceleration and he noted how poorly it slowed down.
Hah, the deer stories remind me of a few years back. I was driving my Civic and saw a deer running out across the road from the left when I pulled about 30 feet away from the stop sign. Well civic vs. deer I figure the deer has the upper hand on doing a lot of damage so I came to a complete stop. Well the deer figured it'd jump over the cabin of the car right at the drivers side door while I was stopped. Exuberant as can be he ran straight towards my drivers door and jumped into the air about 4 or 5 feet away from my door. It was an awesome sight as he jumped up and I saw his front feet clear over the top of my car just inches away from me - except his ***-end must have been filled with lead because while his front legs cleared the top of the car, his entire body came slamming into my drivers side door. WHILE I WAS STOPPED!. I must have sat there for 5 minutes laughing hysterically at the sight of his front legs sliding off the top of my roof as he was falling backwards onto his *** end and ending up on his back. He sprung back up to his feet, paused for a few seconds as if to look at the car going "What the heck just happened?!" and went running back off to the left into the night.
Then there was the truck - had the brand new 80 gallon 2 stage air compressor in the back on it's trip home from the store and a deer came running out into the road. Split second to decide "slam on the brakes and risk the compressor, swerve out of the way and risk the compressor, or clobber the deer" Sorry deer. Clobbered it head on dead center. Only had some deer hair to pull out from between the bumper and the license plate. Truck didn't even flinch.
well guys finally seeing some progress. Shes all done now and ready for that bumper heres a couple pics.
The replacement fender i got from a fellow FTE member. Its a little beat up, but no rust and is way better than the old one:
