soo i have a 1994 f150 4.9 4x4 that i got for $800. at first it was great except for it would not shift into 4 low (4 high at the time worked fine). one of my friends...attempting to be a good bud decided that he could fix the problem by "forcing it" nuff saidso i find myself searching for the shift linkage that goes from the floor shifter to the case...where can i find it? junkyards dont have it and ford wants $300thanks,mike
Can you oil the linkage? I had an 89 that did the same thing. Years of Mud dried out every connection. Use something better than WD40. That will just wash away the first time it gets wet.
I was able to TIG mine back together, and I added some reinforcing plates as well. Took the whole thing apart, bead blasted it, greased the crap out of it, and reassembled. So far so good.

I had the same problem and had mine welded a few days ago. A local welder did it for $25.
Like Bob said, grease the crap out of it and it should work again...if you have it repaired vs. buying a new one.
BTW, Ford maintenance schedule says to lubricate the transfer case linkage every 15,000 miles. I happen to grease it up abpout every second or third time Im under the truck - which happens to be about 2-3 times per month!! You can't lube it too much, after all!
