427 or 428

Hey there people i was thinking about sticking to my original plan,
putting a 427w block in a 75 F250..
theres some thing i don't really know about like how i could bypass the old ram pump or would will the tranny bolt up with everything els?
Then im wondering couldn't i turn my original truck engine a 360 into a 428 cj since its just a destroked 390??? or will i need to search els'where like a different block, year n casting # like anything els.
If you have an opinion on any 427 or 428 suject don't hesitate to put it down. another thing is ive got about 3g on me now if i need to spend a little more it wont her..

get'er done right

You can turn your 360 into a bigger engine, but it probably won't take the overbore needed to make it a 428 with the bore/stroke a factory 428 had. But it will go to 445 with a stroker.

Decide what you want to do. FE or Windsor. You can't do a 427W with a stock block. 392 or 393 is the limit, maybe 408.

You can't turn your 360 into a "427" as issued by Ford. Different block.

$3000. You might be close. But you have an FE--if you are going to buy a W engine, press on here.

351w performance parts are cheap and plentiful compared to the FE...

You can google "427 windsor..." and find tons of car mag and other site write ups on this engine. IMO, it's a mistake to get caught up in the "magic numbers" 427/428, unless you have money to burn. Your heads, cam, intake, headers and carb are going to make more difference than a few cubes. The less you overbore an engine, the stronger the block stays and the fewer cooling issues you have.

Converting from FE to W means costs for the conversion as well.

Your time and money....

the 427w uses a lot of stroke and thats limits the rod angle and ratio with a stock block, its like a 4.17 stroke. It will not fit where the 360 was either.

The 428 is not cheap to buy, in my opinion.

So I would turn the 360 into a 390, and get head work, cams, intake, headers, carb
