360 block-67-427

I pulled a 360 out of a 72 f-250 camper special and found a weird casting number. On the rear of the block behind the flexplate it has 67-427 casted on it. I thought this was kinda weird I measured the bore and stroke and it is a 360. There are no other numbers on the block besides the 352 on the front and a casting date. Another thing that I noticed were some vertical lines cast on the LH side, they are about 1" wide 3" high and protrude 1/8", is that just a 360 thing, my 390 and 428 blocks dont have the lines.

360 block

3904x, the block you have is a normal 360. It says '66-427' on the back half because Ford used the back blate for a 427 on the mold when they poured your block. Lots of blocks that aren't 427s have that on the back. I really think that the assembly line workers used whatever mold plates were handy at the time. The ribs on the side are from where the molds were modified because they were wearing out. The important part is what the cylinders are like, yours are probably the ordinary 360/390 style. DF
