4x4 Dually
Ford did not make a dually 4x4 or a dually bed before 79'. However I heard of a truck that had both, a friend of his made it. Dana 60 front and Dana 70 rear he said, bed came from a place called obsolete ford, what parts they don't have they will fabricate.

Sorry for brinin back a dead post. But I thought I would put in mine (dads) 78 dually.
It has: crappy 460, 4spd, d60 front and I think d70 rear, dealer a/c, had an overdrive at one point, 12,000 warn and a tommy gate. Was wrecked, thats why the pass side has no trim. I'll get some pics up in an album

F-350 4x4 dually
I still debate this issue,i think back in those days, you could custom order one, either by the factory or the dealership they would build you or convert one for you, kinda like Pontiac of the 60's,they would literally custom build you a car,the customer came first, and if it meant selling a car, they'd do it,I cannot tell the least bit that this truck I have was fabbed together by someone,it has the old style BIG dana front with those big military type looking hubs, has the long what.... 167" wheelbase, its not a shorty, twin farm&ranch fuel tanks,a fifth wheel setup in the middle of bed,it would sure fool you if you saw it not being a real one,if it was done by someone, they knew exactly what they were doing,so I believe the dealership did it for the customer as he wanted, its abit beat-up from being run down on the farm by his mecican workers, but I'll bring it around, and it will be what it is,its neat,I like it!!
Find a local hotrod shop. They do stuff like this all the time.
Sure they did. There are plenty of pictures of them in vintage magazines & I still see some of them around every now & then. Not sure what the official name of that body style was...
It's all semantics. Stepside is a pretty generic term & there is a step on the side of that bed just in front of the wheel well...if we're getting into semantics:-)
Wasn't even familiar with the name "Flareside" and I have always owned Fords.
Then I joined FTE...

167"WB? That was only used on 2wd crewcabs, all long bed supercabs had a 155"WB. IF you have a 167"WB (that wasn't welded together) you will probably find the incorrect VIN number stamped on the frame rail.
The only person that would be fooled are the people that know nothing about this era of truck.
And then you get spanked for using the stepside terminology. Stepside or flareside, everyone knows what the discussion is about.
