You must live in a small town if theres only two cause theres probably 5 or 6 that body style within 10 miles of me.
Yes, it's a smallish town (50K). I went looking for one and ended up buying a 2wd instead because I couldn't find one. They aren't that common around here.
How do you know they didn't come from the factory that way? Is it because yall have checked the vin on so called factory 4x4 duallys and they were just normal duallys or what?
First off, there were no "dually" pickups from 73-79. "Dually" means PICKUP BED. However, there were dual rear wheel chassis-cabs. Only F-350's have dual rear wheels. There were no F-350 4x4's made before 1979. So you have no argument what so ever for anything made before 79. And, since we know there were no "duallies" made in 79.........there could not have been any 4x4 "duallies". Now, your only possible argument would be whether or not any 79 4x4 chassis-cabs came equipped with dual rear wheels. This is the ONLY possible application that could have EVER left the factory with dual rear wheels......and it still wouldn't technically be a "dually".
Technically any rig with dual wheels would be a dually, but depending on where your from some folks call only a pickup a dually if it came with a pickup bed on it. This must be a regional thing because we were calling duallys duallys long before they were offered with a pickup bed.
So what are we supposed to call a flatbed now or a dually service bed.
* An alternate name for Dualla, County Tipperary, Ireland
* A pickup truck, specifically one with four wheels on the rear axle
* An Eclipse platform for architectural languages interoperability: DUALLy "
Notice the word PICKUP truck......as in with a bed. This falls into the same category as calling a limited-slip differential a "posi". People have been using that term since the 60's.....still doesn't make it correct.
Just wondering what you guys
call a cab and chasis once it has a bed put on
.....I call it a mess. A pickup bed will not correctly fit a cab and chassis frame. There will be a gap between the bed and cab. Also, there will no longer be a 4 foot span between the rear wheels.....making the bed useless for hauling most stuff you would usually haul in the bed of a pickup.
