4x4 Dually

Is there a such thing? Did they come in 250 and 350? If so, is the front axle a Dana 44? What kind of beds came on these trucks, utility only? Thanks!

As far as I know they were all cab and chassis and either the dealer installed a bed or the buyer did. I have only seen a few of these.

I've seen plenty of cab and chassis dual wheel dentsides, some have definitely been 4X4, but I believe a guy emailed me trying to sell a 78 or 79 with dual wheels and a real bed, and by real I mean like, bump out wheel wells, real trim, a bed that was made from the Ford factory to be a dually bed, like any newer truck would have.
I remember it was a 250 for sure, and may well have been a 4X4. I'll try to dig up the picture, but does anybody know if these did exist?

These are conversions, no Factory dentside dually 4x4.

There is no listing for a dually 4wd in my 79 Light Truck Facts book that Ford put out. I don't think there ever was a dually 4x4 prior to 79 built, only a 2wd version as far as I know.

The F-350 wasn't introduced till 79, this has a 77-earlier grill shell. Can you get the VIN# for this or the other truck? That would definetly clear things up. I'm guessing that both of these are home brewed.

79 and earlier the only way that a dually was available was in a cab and chassis model. No dually beds were ever made for this era from Ford.

OK, the one I saw must have just been modified then I guess.
I wish I could find the picture, although there are plenty just right up on google images too, but I guess they all got like that the same way.

There were dually 4x cab and chassis built before 79 but all I have ever seen with a dually bed were conversions. There were 2 or 3 companies that sold the fnnders.

Sorry ranger429, I saw these trucks on eBay motors a while ago and I just saved the pictures of them because they were very interesting looking but I didn't think of getting the VIN # for either one of them.

There were no dually dentside 4x4 cab and chassis built by the factory. There were some aftermarket companys that did conversions but they were very expensive. Napco built a few and Marmon-Harrigton built several. There was a company that built add-on dually fenders for dentside styleside beds for a short time. They looked simular to early Dodge dually fenders. You see a pair for sale once and a while on Evil-bay.

Yep it says Custom. I'm pretty sure the owner of that truck put that on there because I have never seen one like that before. I wonder if these trucks came from the factory with the in-cab gas tanks?

I would need some proof to believe that. None of my books for the 79 model show anything on a dually cab and chassis in a 4wd version.
