changing over to hei
changing over to hei
I have 69 f250 high boy that im trying to change over to hei. I could use all the help i can get on doing so. I have the hei distribtor for a 74 and an control module box for it as well. Just could use sum help runing wires and needing to know if i need to change out the ignition switch. Thanks for looking and thanks in advance for the help.
Use the factory wire to the coil to actuate a relay, and then use the relay to power the ignition module. Run a wire straight from the battery to the relay, with a 30a fuse as close to the battery as you can get it. You should put a ballast resistor after the relay, but I've run the DSII modules of straight 12v with an e-coil with no ill effects.
Ford never used an HEI system, that was GM. Ford called their electronic ignition Duraspark.

Especially if you are tired of changing out those foreign modules. Enjoy!
