i have a 1977 F100 with a 302 in it right now and i'm swapping it out for a 460. the 460 is going to have an hei dist. and i was wondering if someone could help me out with how to wire the HEI to stock for ignition system. also thought about changing the stock ignition to a msd down the road to so if you wanna through in some info on that to that would be great too.
Remove them, or leave them there for when the HEI distributor dies and you need to put in your original distributor. I just zip tied the wires out of the way.

I highlighted the important part.
Marc,
Why use an inferior distributer than the factory sent it with.
A recurved Duraspark with an msd box is hard to beat.
Also you will probably have to change your thermostat housing or grind it down for a little clearence for the big hei cap, and you will need a taller sitting air cleaner as the stock or lower ones will sit on the cap long before seating on the carb. keep these things in mind before choosing that type distibutor for the 460.
x2 on the re-curved DSII dist/MSD 6a, looks stock and lasts forever. As an added bonus, you can leave the DSII stuff in there and have a backup ignition system. I spent some time and made a harness for my '72 LTD to have DSII and MSD swap with changing plugs on the harness. Man, it was nice to finally be rid of those points!
