IH CPS part #. replace your grey or black CPS with this one!!

Ok guys i found a CPS i like. when i had the original black CPS the truck ran smooth and got good mileage, but i noticed after switching to the grey CPS that i had a rough idle, codes for cylinder 3 & 8 on CCT, less mileage(20mpg w/ black down to 16mpg and best of 18mpg w/ grey CPS). it just didn't feel like it ran right at all so i went and got another one. still idled rough and bad mileage. found out about this CPS and its awesome the difference it made for me. the IH part # is 1876736C91.

this CPS can only be had from International. Ford doesn't have these CPS's. my truck idles smoother now than it has in a long time and the mileage picked back up to 22mpg!!! haven't run a CCT yet, but i think that the CCT might be better this time w/out the grey CPS. i heard the grey will give codes for those cylinders.

Don't forget that Travis has got a 2wd 250 5 spd, so its lighter and doesn't have as much loss through the drivetrain as most people. I have similar mods as him and I average approx. 17.32 mpg over about 10,000 miles and 6-7 months, but I have a 4wd 350 auto.

I think travis told me it was 23 or 26 dollars on the phone.

I got 33's.
And my fuel calculation was from before my injectors and chip.
14-16.
I'm getting better now.

ya but you gotta remember that your bigger tires bring your final drive ration back down. So if your running say 305's that would bring your ration down closer to 3.55 as apossed to the 4.10's you started out with.

I don't think so. If memory serves correct, the C91 is the IH version of the recall CPS, but we have heard rumors from some counter parts guy at one IH dealer that there is a newer version out there that seems to be better than the "gray" recall one.

Just a rumor from what I can tell, but subscribing here in hopes of learning good news.

i may try one out. i am still running on my black cam sensor. if they are only 20 bucks its worth a try. i am averaging 15-16 mpg currently. not hateful for 37 inch tires on winter fuel

the reason i love it so much is that it calmed down my idle A LOT!!! i still have a tiny rough idle due to the wrong tuning for my injectors, but it did increase mileage in my '95.

Bill, i was running a grey for a '97 in my truck when the original black one went out. i didn't think enough to look at the contacts, but they are probably whatever the '97 and up was. i'm going to get one for my dad's '97 this week sometime b/c after i put in this other grey CPS his mileage dropped from 18 to 13.7 in his CC LB dually, auto w/ 4.10's. Yes, my truck did get 22 on the first tank after the swap. haven't filled it again yet or done any towing, but its looking good. What was the deal with the CPS and the pin colors? i remember that one is gold and one is silver, but do we have to use the gold or silver? i wasn't sure, saw it somewhere else and decided to try it.

the CPS was only $23 here. its DARK grey with a purple o-ring. the blue ones are for the 466 and will retard timing in these trucks a little bit.

this is likely for the '97 and up with the silver contacts, but so far it works in mine(i assume '95 had the gold contacts). if you have a '95 i would wait and see how long mine stays like this and see what Bill says about switching the contacts out. probably not supposed to change them. hahaa
