What is it measuring? the distance from the cover to the cam timing wheel?

Just use a depth gauge on a pair of calipers then, and reference that to your CPS, shim accordingly.

It looks as though it would as Bill said , measure disc run out & or cam drift (walk Thrust) Back & forth movement & wobble of the disc ...Start with a known measurement , & indicate it from there ..

Extend an old cps.
I added .055 to the end of a cps with
a motorcycle valve shim. also removed the o-ring.
This will allow you to measure from the cover to the mount
face of the cps.

Rick
I did start to mod a cps for the use of a dial gauge.
Never got around to finishing it. I run fluidamper's
so its a pita.

Talyn
You have to check how true the cam gear is.
The cam gear is heated to 500*f then pressed onto the cam.
Allowable is .008 runout. Then cam thrust has to be measured.

this CPS can only be had from International. Ford doesn't have these CPS's. my truck idles smoother now than it has in a long time and the mileage picked back up to 22mpg!!! haven't run a CCT yet, but i think that the CCT might be better this time w/out the grey CPS. i heard the grey will give codes for those cylinders.
So is this the same number for my 97? Also, (I don't see how but) does a Cali model matter?

I am going to try it soon! I changed my CPS about the same time I changed my K+N to the 6637 and my mileage went from bad to worse! I don't really notice any sluggishness but my fuel mileage is cwap! I want to change the CPS 1st then rebuild the fuel bowl/FPR w/O rings. Thanks for the part number and the info behind it!

Post the measurements/picts of the new cps.
I will try to get my hands on one.
Iam willing to bet the length has changed again!

Here is some info of the past 2 cps's thanks to pocket.

Cope

The air gap will be larger with the grey sensor.
I backcut the mounting face of the grey sensor
to get it in spec (average is .010/.020 removed).
Some remove material from the cover.
That i will not do.

What is the lenght from the mount face to the tip?
Dont use the epoxy dots for the measurement.
It easy to measure off of a sheet of glass.
1.154? I dont have my records here.
