I'm wondering if this has changed again too. Here's from my thread (similar to the one from Curtis) some time back.

Black C99 IH CPS vs. "new & improved" gray CPS from the Ford house

Seems some were raised and some were not.
My mind is shot with the chemicals.

Yours do show the .020 diff
Its what i have found also.
The install of the grey sensor will add .020 to the air gap.
IH spec is .025 to .030 air gap.

I miss seeing chris around here.

Glad I have cool tools. =)

My dial calipers got stolen though with my brief case 5 years ago.

I will surely be grateful if someone posts IH CPS installation and shimming instructions for dummies once this all comes together. I think my truck has the original CPS at 197,000 miles and I do have some hard cold starting and a few times lately my truck feels like it cuts of a millisecond or so while driving at normal temps. Plus I am a true novice shade tree mechanic; which means I have to brush the dirt off my back when working under my truck.

I ALWAYS respect and appreciate Bill's knowledge! Thanks Bill. And also my thanks to the others who posted pictures and explanations.

if you were good with a set of dial calipers, you could do this measurment, if you could get them in there that is.

If you coudln't, a machinists rule will do the trick also.

I just checked some codes and here is what I found:
0344 CMP Camshaft pos sensor ckt intermittent Incorrect number of CMP transition counts Harness routing, charging ckt, sensor, int ckt, improper gap. I replaced the CPS about 2+ months ago....would this code still be there?
0475 EPR Exhst press control valve malfunction Exhaust back pressure regulator - KOEO OCC test Open/grounded ckt, solenoid open/shorted, failed PCM (I have this unplugged)
1280* ICP ICP circuit out of range low Uses inferred ICP strategy Open/grounded circuit, biased sensor, PCM (I put in 2 10 pots but I removed them months ago)
BIG THANKS TO BAZ! Tips - Idea - Hints
1395 I believe this is a GP problem.
I cleared the codes and I will check them again tomorrow and next week.

I had trouble in late dec, it was comming up with cps codes and other things , turned out to be shorted wire under the vc, replaced them cps still had codes, went to ford got shims for the cps and the codes went away the shims part # isf7tz-12j072-aa it had 2 shims in it and i put both in. as for info on the cps i found the that the coffee book on ford was very good ,since i have not figure out to post things yet i have to do the hard way, go to FORDDOTORSD+S.COM click on coffee table books - click on 98-99.5 7.3dit go to page 32 new and revised sensors, page 33 cps, page 46 cps parts suffix summary and other things that will help every one of to understand things we would like to know ,
