I'm trying to find mounts that bolt to the frame for a 302. It's a 77 4x4 frame. I'm wondering if other motors used the same as the 302 so that when I try to find them at the junk yard it'll make my search a little easier and maybe open up a better selection. 351W should be the same right? How bout a straight 6? Any others?
300 uses the same mounts and location as the 302 so thats teh engine your looking for. but what motor was in the truck in the first place? I know that I dropped a 351C directly in place of a 351M/400 using motor mounts from a 86 with a 5.0. the 351c adn the 302 use the same frame mounts on cars so should work on trucks too. In other words if it has a 351m/400 in it to start with, the 302 shouldn't need different frame perches, just go ask for motor mounts for a mid 80s F150 and bolt it in.
I bought a bare frame to start building a new truck with, it didn't have anything on it except crossmembers and body mounts. So I have no Idea what it originally had. I'm putting in an EFI 302 and just want to make sure it's in the right place. I'm also using a newer cab so I need the motor and trans in the right position before I can mount my cab cause I'm pretty sure the cab with have to get moved back on the frame so the shifter with go through the factory hole in the floor.
Thanks for that info numberdummy, saved me from lookin like a tard at every junk yard around.
I know 351m/400 stuff will be found easily so I guess I'll grab stands from one of them if I can't find a 300 truck and see how it goes.
Well Bill your numbers prove the point that all he has to do is find some from a 351m/400 truck which in 79 would be more plentiful in the 4x4s then a 300 would be anyway.
