I recently swapped a 302 in from a 360 in my 73 F100 4x4. We got the 302 in the 360 frame perches with a little bit of wrastleing but the motors sitting too high. Are the frame perches that are actually meant for a 302 lower or even available? Would my best bet be to cut the 360 frame perches and remove about an inch or so and then weld them back together? Any other ideas?
They are different, i just pulled the 360 in my 73 and installed a 302. I had a set of 351m / 400 frame mounts handy and they place it down in the right spot. They should not be to hard for you to find as a lot of the 78/79s came with that engine. They look to be the same as a 79 i had that had a 302 in it.
The 4/4 may be different so don't take my word for it.
302 not available with 4WD until 1980 (excepting 1969/77 Bronco's). None of these parts will work on 1973/79's.
1969/79 F100 & 1975/79 F150 302 perches same as 1977/79 F100/350 2WD 351M/400 perches.
D7TZ-6028-B (replaced DOTZ-6028-A) Right & D7TZ-6029-B (replaced DOTZ-6029-A) Left .. Engine Supports aka perches, stands, towers.
4WD's on trucks of this vintage do not use perches as there's no engine crossmember to bolt them to. 4WD engine supports bolt to the R/L inner frame rails.
Correct using FE perches with a SBF will result in the engine sitting 1" too high.
Shouldn't be that big of a deal though, otherwise you'll need different perches.

That extra inch of height makes my transmission hit the floor of my cab.
Should i go to the local junk yard and find a truck with a 351m/400 and get the mounts and try to use them? Or just cut mine down an inch and reweld them back together?
