Does anyone know the angle the transmission is suppost to be at, or how to phase the driveshaft. It is on the same 1965 ford truck, it has the single driveshaft.trying to get the angles right.
Brady, Could you be a bit more clearer on your question?
I put a C6 in a 66 that had a 3spd. in it. I moved the tranny mount back, drilled new holes to bolt it in with, and changed from a two piece, to a one piece driveshaft.
If I did wrong, it hasn't effected anything yet.

After I put the 302 in the truck and the c6 i went to bolt up the trany mount and the motor sits at a really sharpe angle toward the rear of the truck and I was wondering if I have to shim the trans to get the right angle on the driveshaft. You can clearly see that the moto is not suppost to sit that tilted. I no there is a way to phase in the drive shaft to get the right angle for the ujoints not to bind. plus I am woried about the gas in the carb, because if I leave the trany like it is, all the gas is going to settle in the back of the carb.
could you have the motor mount pads reversed??
the bolt that goes thru the engine perches are sometimes offset, reversing them would effect engine height.
I'm not sure if you saw my response on your original post a few threads down on the main list. You didn't mention where you obtained the front engine perches which mount to the frame under the engine. You didn't use the 352 mounts did you?

I finaly found out today, that you have to use 302 engine perches. To bad I already have the engine in the truck!!!! Well looks like I have something to do tomorrow. Thanks for all the help..Probably be talking to you gentlemen again..
No time to rest on laurels....the "Chrome" thread has zero responses! John this one must be in your department because my trucks are all stripped down standard cabs. I wouldn't know chrome if I were "staring at me own face" in it!
Just like to say thanks to all the gentelmen who helped me with my 1965 ford truck, man this truck runs great.. Have put over 5000 in parts to make it go fast, and i can say its goes fast so, thanks again...
I am about to replace the aftermarket engine mounts on my 1966 F100 4x4 which has a 351W. I tried to purchase the motor towers off a guy who had a 68 4x4 with a factory 302 that he was changing to a 390. He said the engine perches on the 302 and the 390 are the same except the mounting holes used were the one further back on the frame. There appears to be three different hole configurations on the frame. He initially thought they were different until he conpared the old ones he was going to sell to me and the ones he painted that came with the 390 and found them to be exactly the same. Did I get the wrong info. I would hate to cut the aftermarket crap off and them have to weld in back on.
Brady, try www.ridetech.com.Although they deal with airbag suspensions, they have the best info i h ave found on this subject,ANGLING FOR PERFECTION .Order a free catalog online, the article is a very detailed 4 pages.
The 302, and FE motor mounts are diferent. The 302 mounts are shorter and do go mounted on the frame on the mounting holes that are in front of the 390 mounting holes. You will have to drill one hole in the crossmember, because one of the mount holes does not exsist. If you install the 390 perches, were are talking perches here, the 390 perches will be to high and the trany angle will be off. 390 and 302 motor mounts are way different to, cant get them confused. Dont get me wrong, because the 302 or 351 at that will still fit on the 390 perches, but will sit to high. Well I hope that answers you question...
