I'm already missing my west coast life...just moved to Ontario in time for winter. A hole in my front bumper is already rusting around it. Before the winter I tried my own undercoating, spraying a thick grease underneath. I'm sure I'm going to say goodbye to the vehicle sooner than I am used to though. In SoCal, I thought my '86 F150 was pretty new. The '97 was mindblowing. The '02 well that's my wife's and she's from Ontario. She thinks the '02 is old...
It must be tough to see rust appearing on your truck. I have never had any rust on any of my cars. Spoiled I guess. That is probably the 1 and only thing I like about California.
Haha, i tried my own undercoating on my old Flareside 150...My buddy whos a body guy picked up this "Undercoating" in a gallon jug..well we soon found out after coating EVERYTHING metal that it was innerfender under coat. Come to fine out, it never ever dries...Everything known to man stuck to that poor trucks frame. Turns out he got the orange jug instead of the red jug or sumthing like that. Another lesson learned LOL
i'm undercoating my F150 right now with some chit i got from the parts store in an aerosol can. stuff definitely looks awesome, but we will see how it lasts. its kinda rubbery stuff which i like. haha
kris, it does. when i started the project and started undercoating it it dried FAST b/c it was in the middle of summer and 100*+. going to do the bumpers and grill guard with rhino liner or some cheaper spray on chit.
Sam, when was the last time you price rhino liner?? haha. F150 supposed to be budget build even tho i did put almost $4k in the engine and i haven't gotten the distributor, wires, plugs, injectors, pump, FPR, etc. for it yet. haha
You non west coast people, do you gusy have rust issues?
big time lol. you cant see it in the picture of my truck because its covered with salt and snow which always helps. i have the usual ford rust over the wheel wells. its supposed to be a heat wave up in the 30's this week so maybe i will be able to clean it! ill get a pic up
I am not aware of the price of Rhino liner. I had my truck done with the Reflex brand of spray on liners. I was 300.00 to do the bed and go over the rail 2 inches. It is not as gritty as the rhino liner.
line-x is the best because they spray it on hot and it adheres better but they are not shy of charging for it. it does come with a lifetime warranty though. much better than rhino liner.
line x is not as rubbery as rhino liner so it doesn't absorb impact or hold things in the bed near as well. i like rhino liner a lot better than line x. just me tho
