Sorry guys, it has been a long time since I have posted on this site. My progress on the truck was going very well, but I bought a new home, had another child, and deployed (in the Air Force), so progress on the truck came to a halt. Unfortunately, the truck has been sitting for close to a year with nothing done to it. I am happy to say though, that I will be starting back up on it very soon. I ordered a few parts from LMC today and will be picking back up on the body work within the next week. I will be posting pictures and info once the progress starts. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
Looks like this is an old post, but just a note to those considering shaving the driprails - I have recently done this on one side of my truck, which is still being driven while I gradually do the bodywork and rust repairs, and it now DOES leak a little while parked in heavy rain, and it didn't before. Now, my door and window seals haven't been replaced, and I hope this should solve the problem as none of the areas the seal touches have been modified in removing the drip rails, but I do now have a leak where I didn't before. Just a word of advice! You also get a lot more rain in with the window open, whether driving or parked. You'd expect a bit more, but it's surprising just how big the difference is. I've now got to decide whether I leave it as is (assuming replacing the seals fixes the leak) or fab up a replacement gutter. It looks a lot cleaner without them though, and was not a difficult job. Also removes a major rust trap, which was part of the reason I did it in the first place.
Thanks for the info. Mine hasnt been driven, so I am not sure how the rain/water will be. I plain to do a one piece window in mine as well, so I hope to make the window seal well when it is complete.
Thanks everyone. Progress will be slow on the truck for a while, as I am not working on it in my garage anymore. The truck is currently at a local body shop so I have to go there to work on it, which slows things down, but I do not have room for it at my house at the moment.
Question for you guys.. I am looking to replace my seat with a newer truck seat. Anyone know of a seat that will fit pretty easy?
The sheetmetal I ordered from LMC came in. I also ordered a new welder, it should be here in a few days. I put all of the glass back in the truck today, and will have a new windshied in Monday... The side windows are just a temp solution, because I will be doing a one-piece window on this truck in the very near future. Ill keep everyone posted
Awesome. We should definitly hang out some time... maybe go to ur house and check out your proect since it won't be drivable that soon mine should be done soon.. gettin my license ina week...
Got my new windshied in. The truck will be back in my garage Saturday. Nothing exciting happening to the truck right now, so no pictures...Ill keep you all posted on the progress.
