I have had enough of this cold. My gas truck won't start, can't tell if the pump is running, but it could be very much out of tune since my sister ran it for over a year and couldn't be bothered to get the spark plugs I bought before she took it changed. The little loader tractor was all gelled up on the side of the road since they didn't treat the fuel before heading out, and it was giving warnings that it had issues before they took it out on the road. I got it going finally and back to the barn, where it gelled up again next day. (Note: do not buy diesel from Kum and Go in the winter when it is very cold, they run 5% bio diesel, which gels too easy in these temps) The tractor with the snow blower is having hydraulic issues, may have found an additive that will help there, going to try it out today. I am so ready for March as well......
Typically, that is when the weather starts getting warmer around here...at least, that was my experience last year and that is what all the locals say. I remember St. Patty's day last year was the first real "warm" day and I spent the entire outside dinkin around with my truck.
Heck, right now, I could be happy with highs in the 20's... since the tractors were having issues, I was driving a little path to get through my snow drifts. Well, I got a little off the track, and then of course got stuck. I had to hike the 1/2 mile to my parents, (no one is home as they were still getting back from Florida) to find that nothing would start there except one of the tractors I had been working with, the snow blower tractor. It was all operational but the 3 point lift wouldn't go down, so I figured I would just use it to pull myself out if nothing more. Lo and behold, the lift was down when I got to it, so I was able to actually clear my lane and pull myself out. Then I had to take the tractor back, and hike back. The hike there was easy, all down hill, the hike back of course, then, is all uphill....Right around a 4% grade for over half the distance...
Hmmm....Maybe we did! That's what happens when you talk to so many people!! I'm not liking the thought of minus 30-40 degree wind chills also. I'm so ready for spring.
It has been brutally cold here for the past week or so...just going to add the blizzard to the mix since its totally unacceptable that the roads have been dry around here.
