Edge Evolution

Its been awhile since I been on here, I finally picked up another 7.3.
I just bought an 02 7.3 6spd with the edge evolution. Do yall know anything about this tuner? I still have the DP from my old truck and will be installing it after I get it re-flashed by Jody. I just made a 1500 mile trip to Illinois over the weekend, and didnt really like the way the edge performed. My truck will only make 20psi boost on the extreme setting. With the DP on my last truck it made well over 20, in the 30s with the WW and waste gate bypassed. This truck also has the Volant cold air kit and 4in exhaust. Should I put the 6637 or leave the Volant? Im not real happy with the truck right now, since I drove my buddies 6.0 yesterday and its making nasty power, it will walk the dog my truck. How much power should I be making with the edge tuner installed? and will Jody's tunes be that much better?

The Volant system is decent from what I hear. Is it an oiled element? You're also fighting 33s on probably stock gearing. The Edge is known for having issues with things like the trans, and is definitely not going to make as much power as Jody's tunes. Not sure about the boost, but the standard things to look for apply here -- boost leaks (boots & up-pipes) and wastegate tightness. If all that's good, then the Edge is just not all that great of a tuner.

I havent opened theair box to see if its wet or dry, I just figured it was dry. If not then I will deffinately install the 6637. The Edge may not have good tunes, but it is good for egts and boost pressure. I will probly keep it hooked up just to monitor things, but I will return it to stock. I dont think I should stack it with the DP since it still has the stock clutch. What is the normal boost pressure for a stock 7.3 without tuning or anything?

15-17psi with wastegate, 17-21ish with the wastegate disabled.

BTW, you can't stack tuners like that on these trucks. The DP takes over the tuning in the PCM anyway.

I just stepped out and un-hooked the wastegate. Im about to call Jody and see what will be the fastest way to get my chip flashed for this truck. I need it back by Friday, probly not possible but I will take it to him if he can have it ready by then.

You can safely run the edge for it's gage functions while using the Dp for tunes, just set it to stock. I have run both, and while I like the Dp Tunes better, don't expect an eye popping, night and day difference. The Dp will pull better thoughout the entire gear. Top end gear performance will be about the same. Don't forget that the truck has a boost limiter, beyond the waste gate, that limits you to about 21 psi regardless of the tuner. You will need an overboost fooler to get around that issue.

the last truck I had didnt have the limiter on it, it was a 2000 6spd 4x4.
I just got off the phone with Diane at DP, I should have ordered the fooler, but forgot. Oh well Ill get it later. My F-6 should be here by Wednesday.

questions

i hvae the some setup but in auto and use edge(75hp max on extreme setting) for my gauges and use the DP for my settings. If you have a machinal gauge u can see over 20lbs of boost the edge will limit you.
PS how much for the vulant?
