Hey guys, i have an edge evolution 15001 on my 01 f-250. I like the power it gives me and the guages. I have been reading all the posts on here about the edge. Seems no one likes it. Is there anyone who does like it. It sounds like the dp tuner is the way to go, just dont have the funds right now to upgrade. Should i be worried about the edge?? i have had it for 6 months or so and have had no problems with it? Just inquiring...
There was a thread the other day about reprogramming the edge, I think PHP has that ability.
Wait a few and someone with more knowledge on this will be by.
Hey guys, i have an edge evolution 15001 on my 01 f-250. I like the power it gives me and the guages. Yeah, they run pretty good. I have been reading all the posts on here about the edge. Seems no one likes it. Is there anyone who does like it. Most people who like it have a desireable PCM code to begin with. It sounds like the dp tuner is the way to go, just dont have the funds right now to upgrade. Should i be worried about the edge?? No, it's not going to have any detrimental effects on your truck. Enjoy it! i have had it for 6 months or so and have had no problems with it? Just inquiring...

Usually, the only real complaints with the Evo have to do with shift points and firmness....too early and too hard. Some programs make the accelerator pedal far too touchy, too. The power portion of the programs works out pretty well. The injection timing (basic term for when the PCM decides the "start of injection" should be) is a little lazy for the fueling rate (slightly higher EGT) but they are safe and easy on the bottom end of the engine.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.
The edge is an "ok" programmer that is ok for some but not for others. When i installed mine a wasn't really impressed and im getting ready to dump it and go dp. With the dp you can switch on the fly and have multiple different tunes. I lost a tranny and it wasn't all because of the edge but i think it aided in the destuction. All in all im very disappointed in the edge

Johnny, many people confuse the Juice and the Evo, and we've read numerous posts that lump them together when, in fact, they are two totally different animals because the Juice does not have any transmission tuning.
Should you be worried about running the Evo? Nah. If there were any problems, Bill would be the first to have heard about it so that he could adjust the canned calibrations.
PHP, however, can upgrade your programmer to a Gryphon (our private labeled version of the Evo) and provide you with custom tunes, which will save you a significant amount of money! You can check out this link for more information about pricing, etc.
In essence, any calibration that we offer for a 7.3L chip can be put onto your programmer. Some, of course, -- like our Whisper Mode™ tune -- wouldn't make sense due to that the fact that a chip has switch-on-the-fly capability and the programmer has to be reprogrammed to change levels, but we can provide you with different power levels as well as other calibrations. If you have any mods like injectors or HPOP, custom tuning is also available for your programmer.
If you're really looking for switch-on-the-fly capability at a reasonable price, we also offer the F.U. Chip (that's Free Updates!) which includes a blank 6-position chip and a chip burner. Additionally, you will have access to all of the calibrations we have for your truck (currently 15-20 calibrations, based upon your PCM code), and you can change them as often as you want! More information about calibrations, pricing, etc. can be found HERE.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.
