It was the first mod I did to my EX. IMHO - It's not the absolute best tune available ( I think the chips like TW or DP et al are better but have no direct experience) but it does provide you w/ alternatives to individual gauges or two "devices" (chip and Scanguage) and you must have a view into key metrics of the Engine.
That's the reason I bought one as it "integrates" into the dash better with the color coordinated mount (IMHO), provides the guages as well as a diagnotsic tool. I only use two of the tunes and almost always have it on "2" unless I expect to be towing in the hills & hollows when I go down to 1 (Tow setting).
I keep it showing EGT, Boost, EOT and TOT and reset the "records" before each trip. I have the "alarms" set at fairly low points base dupon what I read here on the forums. It does help me keep my foot out of it and really helped with the towig mileage.
It's a compromise but not a bad one at that. If I had the money, I'd do a chip and a "prgrammer/scanguage".
Due to the fact that it has built in gauges and tracks a number of metrics, I like the cost vs benefit. I know its not a dp tuner. but for $400 you get allot of bang for the buck!
I was looking for something to get a little extra pep and to show the gauges - got a great deal on the Edge and have been very happy with it. took care of the initial lag at take off. I usually only run mine in 1 for Mileage, or 2 for Tow (when towing). I have run it on 3 before but since I don't ever really hammer it just settle on Mileage for around town. I also have a scan gaugeII now so just do boost and egt on the Edge, but it's nice to have the others as a backup too. Oh, and they have great customer service too!
I don't know anyway around that but you can customize the tranny shifts. I have not done so and would be interested in anyone that has changed the shift points. The 2-3 shift is firm but it is the 3-4 shift (at 45 mph or roughly 1800 RPM) that bothers me as that is just above many of the street speeds needed.
Whose Tranny's have suffered at the hands of EDGE???????

Mine went out in 2008. But I wasn't running an Edge. But yes, I firmly agree that more HP + Torque + Stock 4R100 + Towing heavy = Certain Death. Now I am running one of John Wood's built transmissions and wont have to worry about the inherent flaws and known weak points of the 4R100.
At a minimum, I'd do a valve body upgrade on the trans. when running tunes+towing.

Wouldn't this problem be inherent with any tuner? I mean more HP + Torque + Stock 4R100. I've been advised that a shift kit for the tranny might be a good idea after its tuned.
Here is the info from a website where I found it for sale. under advanced tuning it states that its able to adjust shift points/pressure. I don't know how its done, but I guess it is possible.

PIDS
The Evolution allows the user to view up to 4 PIDs at one time. There are 11 different PIDs to choose from. Below is a list and description of each:
RPM (revolutions per minute) - Engine speed.
MPH (miles per hour) - Note: Dash display may be +/-3 MPH off from the digital display due to mechanical differences in the spring, etc. used to control the gauge.
ECT (engine coolant temperature) - Degrees F.
BST (Boost Pressure) - PSI
EGT (Exhaust Gas Temp) - Degrees F.
EOT (Engine oil temperature) - Degrees F.
TFT (Transmission fluid temperature) - Degrees F. (Automatic Trans ONLY. If you have a manual trans, the value displayed will be incorrect)
IAT (Intake air temperature) - Degrees F.
BARO (Barometric pressure) - PSI
BAT (Battery voltage)
DTC (Diagnostic trouble code count)
The following power gains are representative of an actual test vehicle. These gains were measured on a SuperFlow Dyno at an altitude of 4400 ft above sea level, and represent power delivered to the rear wheels of the test truck. The only modification made to the test truck was the addition of the Edge Evolution module. Power gains may vary based on vehicle and geographical location.
Level 1: 60 Horsepower - 100 Foot Pounds of Torque
Level 2: 80 Horsepower - 140 Foot Pounds of Torque
Level 3: 100 Horsepower - 200 Foot Pounds of Torque
