Good luck Rick. I know the Yankee boys are having fun with this, but hopefully you don't lose power tonight. There's trees near some of those power lines that have never had snow or ice on them.
And it takes about 1/2 acre to make a snow man. It don't look like the ones you see on TV. It will have grass and twigs and leaves sticking out of it, but pack it in nice and good and it should last a couple of days. It will last longer than the rest of the snow will.
I was in the forecast area for about an inch of snow. I was like a little kid this morning getting up to see if there was snow on the ground and I got to stay at home from work. No luck. It started South of me.
I think the last hurricane took care of that, Chris.
The last hurricane wasn't really bad Joe. The issue in Rick's area was the surge. Lots of water is a devastating thing. Rita did more wind damage, but that's been long enough ago for the trees to have grown up.
Hey Rick, The snow is starting in Baton Rouge (very light). Last Year we had about 8 to 10 inches. Had a blast, but I was a little scsred going to work that morning. Almost got My Truck wiped out by some one driving to fast and started sliding. missed me by about 2 inches. I live east of Baton Rouge about 20 miles.
I don't think you could get that SnoCat to float! those tracks are 4 ft wide! My son ran one for a season in Sun Valley Id when I lived there. he said the most fun was grooming during a blizzard. 4 ft of powder and still coming down. He said you just point it downhill-- hit the throttle and ride the avalanche to the bottom. 2000-3000 vertical ft downhill run
always wanted to go to work with him just never got it done.
Ricky, enjoy the snow just stay home away from the IDIOTS. spent a couple of days near Dallas after an ice storm. just sat still and watched the carnage.

pete the real fun is when u use the piston bully's rear winch to keep u from sliping down the slope because u cant decent it slow enough
you get to the bottom and someone else up top unhooks the line ...we call that slope pipeline and it only gets groomed half way then its moguls
Reminds me of when I was in school in East TX. Snowed one night about an inch and everything was shut down the next day. I thought is was crazy. Radio was broadcasting all the businesses that were closed and the city was like a ghost town. Made driving through town fun though!!
We had about 2 inches of snow where I work providing coal ash diposal for the power plant near a large lake. We are just southwest of Houston near Hwy 59. The snow didn't hamper our operation. I was outside using a pressure washer to clean out a hydraulic tank from one of our dump trucks while it was snowing. It snowed there for close to 8 hrs. The worst part was when I left to go home after dark and my wipers and rear doors were frozen. The lower half of my windshield was covered. I had to drive carefully over to the shop and wash my truck down.
