If you ever have a hurricane going up there, I will be glad to tell you how to prepare for it and what to do after all your chit gets tore up. This I know all to well.
Haha...obviously, you got me on expertise on that one Rick. If I ever had to prepare for a hurricane I'd run around in circles screaming "what do I do what do I do what do I do?"
Speaking of hurricanes, at least this season seemed relatively uneventful, give you a break..
That's because the guy running it had more experience than I have. 'Course, he's done more to his motor and had more problems than I have. But boy does he have it fixed now. He asked me "is ok to be scared of your truck?".

I think it was 40* when Chris and Roland was at my house and we had the heater on most of the time.
Before it gets that cold, up here we put on socks, shoes and gloves.....

You have your hurricanes, we have our tornadoes. Both are a terrible experience.

Yes, this year was just like the year after Hurricane Rita, nothing came in the gulf. Then 2 years later, here comes Ike, with a tidal surge more then Rita. If we get another storm like either one of those, we will not be able to rebuild here.

I like that. And, I guess ya'll put your shirts on too. I'm sure you would laugh at my cold weather wardrobe. I have nothing that could take that kind of cold.
Haven't had any gelling problems yet. I think you have been colder there than we have been here, 16* at noon. We are using no. 2 and an additive but we have no.1 on hand. I'm not sure what farmb0y is putting in the semi. We have no.2 B2 for the tractor with the dozer blade for pushing snow. Put a little extra additive in that. On that tractor, I cover the filters so they get a lot of engine heat which helps.
Your stronger winds are just getting here. We had some drifting over night but nothing overwhelming. The worst that I remember was 1982, when farmb0y was born. We had a blizzard every weekend for a month. We would get a reprieve Tue, Wed, and Thu to get dug out, livestock taken care of and prepared for the coming weekend. Wind chills of -80* were mean. Maybe that's why he likes snowmobiling so much!

So far so good here also. Sent in some treated #2 fuel samples and the Cold Filter Plug Point was measured at -22 F. The only problem I am having is a 2WD pickup in a 4WD World ........not counting the oil leak from the dipstick/oil pan.
Rich, I didn't know that you could get the fuel tested for gel point. Where do you get that done? If you don't mind the 4 hour drive, farmb0y and I would help you get that oil leak taken care of.
OK Rick, it's officially not nice here. I finally went out to do chores and had to scoop wherever I wanted to go. The pooch was dragging belly the snow was so deep. I thought that the wind would diminish a little as the day wore on but it has gotten worse. I don't mind the snow, I just don't like the wind moving it all the time.
Bob, thanks for sharing, NOT! At least the weather map shows that the winds are diminishing for you already. Hopefully they will here soon.
Lisa, what are you doing home? Did Cedar Rapids close down?
Those winds are on their way here.
Yeah, Cedar Rapids pretty much shut down. Work called this morning to tell me they'll be closed today.
They haven't closed down 380 yet but DOT and the state patrol came on the tv and advised people to stay off the highways. Highway 30 and I-80 are closed in several spots.
