. Man it snowed like crazy but it didn't stay on the ground. I tried to take pics but it was dark and didn't come out. We had some big flakes but melted once it hit the ground. This morning the ground looks like a frost on it and thats it. I guess I am to close to the Gulf of Mexico for the ground to freeze enough to hold snow. Thanks everyone that helped me out on this blizzard thingy. . I was in my shop last night with the heater on, but it was still cold as a witches ???. I decided to try my hand with some antifreeze, to warm up a bit, but it was still cold as he!! being 40* in my shop. Well, I guess I will have to wait a few more years till I can see snow again.
Rick-- a quick message from Cheryl--- Rick baby, you get rid of all that snow before we come down that way. Besides, back home in Idaho I see a forecast high of 11 !!!

Hey Cheryl, good to see you post. I don't know how ya'll can take the cold up there. Don't worry about there being snow down here when you come, looks like it just ain't going to happen. Looking forward to seeing you and Barney next year or before. We will try not to keep ya'll up next time.
Sounds like Roland took the worst of it. I bet he's snowed in till around noon or so.
There was only a few white patches of snow and a good layer of frost about daybreak this morning. Right now the only snow is in the shaded areas of my buildings and trees. Seems like the snow I reported at work was more "severe" than what I had at home. I will be taking a round bale of hay and sack of range cubes out to my cows this afternoon when it warms up a bit. I need to go later and get a can of fuel for my tractor. I siphoned some out for my shop heater when I was working on my differential on my days off.

Thats why I have that the 95gal transfer tank in the back. lol
seriously... all you need for either miller feed's or roland's trucks to do well in the snow is a cup of coffee and tow chain..... coffee to ease the pain of the slow trip wherever you are going driving around all the people stuck... the chain if its someone you know to pull them out..
Snow is not an issue... I hate black ice.....and no vehicle will do well on it. Its the worst feeling when you come into a corner and its starts fishtailing slightly..... ya know ya can't touch the brake or its gone, nor can ya touch the gas, all you can do is try to drive out of it before something bad happens. I spun an explorer 270 degrees at 65 mph on black ice once.....was WIDE awake all the rest of the day.
and don't worry, people generally drive like southerners in iowa on the first snowfall too.
How did you get to do that, I always thought it would be fun to groom snow for a living.
Uhh...well long story short, I was sorta dating a guy who did that for a living. lol

I was thinking the same thing...also, even though it got cold enough to snow (barely), I bet the ground was still at least 10+ degrees warmer. Rick was saying it was 40 degrees when he was out trying to work in his shop. While Rick might think that temperature is freezing, its not exactly conducive to snow.
Rick, since you missed out on the snow, I'll show you what it would be like if you had really gotten a good storm:
I live in the south and the only way the snow sticks is if there is a layer of ice under and on i don't drive on the ice, and yes if looks like snow everything close down. I dont think i would like that much snow.

that made me laugh..sorry i know it isnt funny, but i had several memories flash through my head when you wrote that..lol I put my bronco 2 in the ditch once due to a mixup on black ice. I hate that stuff. Scary as all get out!

I wouldn't have a clue on how to deal with that. I will stick to my snowless place.
