There are a few places in town where it merges back to back to back from one side to the other and people try to pass me thinking I drive slow due to my size and I just get over whether or not they get there
Someone tried to do something similar to my Dad (he drives my Monster '01) in traffic the other day....
My Dad got around some slow traffic and the guy a BMW followed him. My Dad needed to get off the freeway, but the guy in the BMW decided to play hard ball and speed up when he saw my Dad trying to get over to catch his exit.
This of course pissed my Dad off so he gave him a small taste of black smoke to get ahead, get to his exit, and end things. Under normal circumstances, people would get the hint and back down, but no, not this guy, he drives a BMW Instead he continues to try to cut my Dad off, leading to a game of "Chicken". My Dad mashes it and the homeboy in the BMW tried like hell, but couldn't keep up.
Being a BMW owner and enthusiast, I will be the first to tell you that some BMW drivers are arrogant asses. Not all of us, but many
That being said, many of the BMWs on the road are slow. There are plenty of 150 HP 318is, 185 HP 325is, and 195 HP 328is from 10-15 years ago that are still motoring on, and their drivers aren't aware that their cars are slow until they get owned by an Excursion, a Camry, or a Honda Odyssey.

Yeah. But they probably won't really understand how slow they are until they get owned by a Prius.
(Father forgive me for I have sinned. I used the 'P' word....)

I've met some classy BMW owners and was almost one myself, lol!
Those newer ones are stupid fast though!
One of the supervisors at work has a 535i with the 8-speed twin turbo 3.0 I6. He took us to lunch in it and we all lost our appetite with how fast it is and how fast he drives.
Trust me, I own two BMWs (an older 325i and a newer X5 4.8i), and I love them. They're tight, solid, corner very nicely (even the X-series), and like you said, the newer ones are STUPID fast. My wife's X5 is probably one of the fastest vehicles I've ever driven. 360 HP, and I swear it has more than that.
You are right, that 3.0 Turbo 6 that they make for the 335i and the 535i is sickeningly, mind-bendingly powerful. Unfortunately, it seems like the bigger the BMW, the bigger the douchenozzle that drives it. Here in the Seattle area, the highways are awash with 5-series and 7-series BMWs, and they are ridiculous.
But in all fairness to BMW drivers, they don't seem to be really any worse than the newer generation of Audi drivers. Those guys just think they're badass because of Quattro.

It was very roomy and cornered well though...
Damn it. Every time someone I know elevates to the level of "respected", they go and say something like that....

ALMOST is the operative word, lol
I decided that I needed something to grow into and not out of with plenty of utility. (Hence the Excursion) At 6ft 6in and just under 400 pounds, a BMW really isn't for me unless it's a weekend ride.

In Texas it's true and worse than Washington...
Come to think of it, THIS morning on my way to work, some guy in a 750i, decided to test my patience; so he got to see how fast my 6.0 Excursion is and how fast and well it manuvers.
The Quattro folks are a breed of their own, especially with the Quattro commercials you see on TV these days.

Hahahaha, I've recently lived in Texas (just north of Fort Worth) so I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. Except, from my perspective, it was mostly the trucks that were the worst. Those guys that buy the "Official Truck of Texas" and immediately throw a 4" lift, straight pipes, and "Cowboy Up" stickers all over their brand new leased trucks. Nothing like moving along at 75 MPH and almost getting run over by a Ram 1500 who wants to go 110, who then shoots you the finger with his non-cell-phone hand as he flies around you on the shoulder.
As a new Excursion driver, I'm surprised at how nimble my Ex is. It corners surprisingly smoothly for something that's basically an enclosed, heavy F-250.
As for the Quattro drivers, they just fail to realize that their cars are basically Jettas or Passats that they overpaid for LOL.

I think that FTE should hire us as security for their next event. I'm 6'7" 240# (down from 265# ). You and I would make a formidable barrier at any door! I'd get to tower over you, and you could be the immovable object!

Clearly, we have different suspensions under our Excursions. I've been afraid to look, but I'm pretty sure that the previous owner reinforced the leaf springs with 1" rebar. Lots of it.....

Maybe my expectations were that my truck would be a lot more choppy than it is. It's not carlike, in any sense of the word, but I took it on some moderate twisties with elevation change and some uneven surfaces a couple of days ago, and it handled those roads like a champ. Not as fast as I could have done them in the wife's X5, but quite nice for a truck frame, tall sidewall tires, and stiff leaf-sprung suspension.
Then again, I just increased the air pressure in my tires, maybe the feel would be different now.

I'm not saying that I've got a bad ride. But the Ex clearly drives/rides like a truck. My factory lifted 4x4 F150 rides like a car. I had expected the Excursion to have a similar ride.
The reality is, it's set up for heavy towing and I didn't realize that at the start. I tow a 20' boat with dual axle trailer. That comes in around 3,000lbs. About 1/4th capacity and less than half the weight of the Ex.
Having driven Ram 2500s and Chevy/GMC 2500s, I have to say that the F-250 line rides better than those others. Seems like Dodge and GM really like to constantly remind their drivers that those vehicles are, in fact, trucks. Fords (from my experience) are a bit smoother than your average HD pickup. Probably why the F-series outsells GM and Dodge by a pretty good margin.
I really liked the ride and handling of the old twin I beam front ends. When they went to a conventional A-arm, I was at first worried, then elated at the new ride.
Of course, the rigid front axle of the Ex is neither of those, is it?
