I would want to know from any supplier where their beds come from. If they get them from Hils, or Mar-K, or whoever, the real way to compare price is knowing you're looking at the same apples, and don't have an orange slipped in. ;-)
My 2c.
I go by gauge of the steel....quality of the welds, and how straight the parts are made.
I am still thinking of mwearlyford.......and Tacson says to talk to HOTRODS and that I will do tomorrow.
Tacson looked the beds over in Moultrie.....and if they are good enough for him.....good enough for me ,for sure!!!! He is a particular dude....LOL just kidding!!

The only body work that mine (MW Fords) required is to fill in the little divots from the spot welds. I looked at Hot Rod's yesterday and it seems to have the same divots in pretty much the same places. When putting on the roll pan, I had to remove the rear lower rectangular pieces (9" by 6") of metal from the bed sides, but after that, I welded it into place and it fit perfectly. The only other issue is that these have holes in the stake pockets for hanging the tailgate chain which is great if you're going to use chains. I'm not. Rather than trying to weld the hole shut, I'm just going to fill it with a carriage bolt for a smoother appearance. Hot Rod's doesn't have these holes.

I have recieved several emails from my customers who saw your post and encouraged me to contack you. Beacuse you and I both are in Ohio. I also noticed several other posts concerning other bed companies and issues. I have sold all the other brands except the foreign import. I sell beds for Ford trucks and will be in Columbus this weekend with beds, and beds on display at the All Ford Swap Meet. We carry several different styles of beds for 1/2 ton Ford trucks with 6 1/2 ft beds. Our beds are made by Dan Carpenter himself.
