If they are same as a '49, which I believe they are, the original ones are 'glued' on so I broke them off then threaded the shaft and screwed on the replacement. Did that on the heater controls too.
My F1 is converted to 12 volt so the light control would not accept the original **** (with the 'L') so a friend who is a machinist cut off the new shaft and the original then made the switch. Works great and looks perfect. I strive to have my trucks look as stock as possible so am always improvising.
Hope this helps.
Enjoy
For the cables, you just have to buy the whole calbe if you want to replace the choke, throttle, and heater *****. You don't have to replace the outer sheathing, just disconnect the old cable where ever it is hooked up and the new cable in side the housing and re connect it. Oddly the ***** on the new cable unscrew and can be replaced. So you have to buy the ***** seperately with the correct letter on them.
The light switch stem replacement should fit ok, mine did, but you never know what switch you really have. If you use a 56 switch in your 12 volt conversion, the 51/52 light ****/stem will fit.
The wiper **** just pulls off. The **** on the lighter unscrews. Heater blower switch **** switch unscrews or pulls off depending on which style you have.
