Mar-k has a 1000 dollar and it is free shipping deal....I figure I would still Spend 1200.00/ then mwearlyford....buyon ebay and total is 1000 dollars...but I have to get it.
Then HotRod's in New Carlisle.....has a good deal.....butall want more for the correct tailgate......I donotwant the flat no-name gate.........give me what comes factory.....so each is a concern........Bill
I had thought that Mar-K was offering FREE shipping! I have talked to them a lot especially on finishing, etc and they are great to deal with - objectively - no experience with MIdwest and LMC seems to have quality/accuracy issues lately!
I'll bet if you PM our Mar-K rep here at FTE ("Mar-K Mark") and tell him you want THREE beds, you could hard arm him into free shipping if they currently aren't offering it! It would be a great advertising thing for him to add that and his input to this post!
Edit note: Confirmed! Free UPS shipping for orders over $1000.
Edit Edit: we must have been typing at the same time.
I am going to consider the MAR-K beds.....if I can get a stock bed with wood kit/stock 56 tailgate(extra) for 1100.00 each.
Do youthink this would work out good for them andfree shipping?
I will write Mar-K again and call it in......wish me luck........lol

Sorry I missed this thread earlier. I try to look in on the forum nearly every day, but sometimes things get by me. Thanks Julie for the heads up!
Thanks for letting us be a part of the site.

hmmmm..... when i called mar-k yesterday i was quoted 1100.00 and no mention of shipping. and 600 for the wood kit? i thought that sounded really high for the wood. okc is only 2 hrs away from me so it would be nice to pick it up and avoid freight damage. perhaps the lady i talked to wasn't aware of the special? idk. one website shows 1250 with wood and just under 200 for stainless upgrades(strips, bolts, end cap). being in the body biz, i know sometimes you get what you pay for. but on the other hand, i have used gm licensed goodmark panels on a customers 71 chevy p/u and most fit like crap. the guy paid almost twice the money for the same ill fitting part. that's where these forums help. you can get real feedback, not just salesman chatter. i have never had a salesman tell me their parts suck, but look how much you saved. mar-k tour will be in my future since they are close.
are the aftermarket beds good quality? any one better than the other as far as fit/quality? we are just getting started with our pickup.
In my opinion, "Pros Pick" is the Best out there. It is also probably the most expensive. Depends on your preferences, High quality means more $. Just my .02$
You're probably aware, but I'll mention this for the benefit for everyone, parts having been "licensed" by a particular company only mean someone has paid a royalty for the rights to sell such products. They are by no means a quality assurance label. No one from any OEM manufacturer, be it Ford, GM, Chrysler/Fiat, Daewoo, etc., has ever looked at any of these parts for fit and finish. Worse yet, they couldn't care less. As long as they get their share of the pie.

I bought a bed from Northern Classic Trucks for my earlier '41 Ford pickup. It is of the highest quality. I'm not sure if they offer bed kits for the '53-'56 trucks though. I know they have them for the '48-'50(early). I paid a lot more than $1000 but got an assembled bed with the wood kit and all hardware. Northern Casssic supplies to Midwest Early Ford.
I got my bed kit from Hot Rods - good quality and fit plus he sorted shipping to me in England without any hassle, even though he'd not sent one that far before!! Their service and helpfulness is second to none and that goes a long way in my opinion. Price may be important, but looking after the quality service providers is just as important.
52 merc, you are correct on the licensing. to me it borders on false advertisement. the only way a person finds out is after the fact. i have seen many people but into it tho. they think they are getting n.o.s. or something of the original stamps.

I need to consider price first or I cannot build this many trucks. Also, quality is a concern, but I do not build show trucks. I want a nice bed,but can do body/paint work andusually something always need some touch up.
Mar-k IS definately now my 1st choice.....justlet me get a quote per bed.
I like mwearly ford and HotRods, but best price and best shipping gets mymoney.....Bill

Mar-K is the bed I used, I like it a lot, good quality too. It did need some body work to ready for paint.
I used a Pros-pick hidden hinge tail gate and was impressed with the quality also.
Got some prices....still think mwearly ford is the place.
Will check more prices and more companies.....classic trucks.....1400.00 plus or minus plus shipping.
Anyone dealt with a bed from f100 central?
