Oh thats right, unlike ford, dodge has such a poor product/sales and cant manage their company well enough themselves they needed another company to come save their a**. And now, while ford has remained sucessful, and profitable, not to mention a favorite amongst new car buyers due to no bailouts, dodge is losing customer faith. I think hes jealous of his friends superduty, and a little upset that dodge hasnt produced a quality anything since the early 70's. And the ford superduty/excursion line up, well, who does not like them?
Btw, I dont own an excursion but in my opinion, they never shoulda quit makin them!!!
Indeed. It was a rare bad decision by Ford who at the time said they wanted to be perceived as more eco-friendly.
I know! It is rare if I see a soccer mom or business exec driving Excursions. Basically, every one I've seen who drives one is some sort of heavy contractor or the like. And for it's size, the Excursion with the 7.3 got great fuel mileage.
Dont forget that Ford is bringing thier own diesel to the table here shortly... how is Dodge doing on an in house diesel????
That doesn't even make sense why would dodge change thier diesel? its better than the powerstroke and the duramax? Change thier transmission sure but why would you get rid of something that works? Glad your not giving any advice ya don't sound real bright

Um in 1999ish ford almost collapsed and had to get money from the government, restructured and payed it back. soo i'm happy that they didn't make the same mistake in just decade that would be pretty silly
Really now. This guy came in looking for problems, and now he is trying to act like he didn't cause them.
not my fault if you guys can't controll your emotions i seem to have touched on a sore subject ... if it makes you all feel better the 6.4L powerstroke Hauls a** and ford has a good tranny behind it! (too bad they get such bad fuel economy and can't make emissions so ford is going to have to try and build a better diesel than the best one they've had in...ever
This is a painful thread to read, I wont lie, I skipped a few posts to ensure I could make it to the end. So far we have basically pointed the obvious out here, A cummins guy is like the chevy guys of the hot rod industry. They only, ONLY like what they have. Try and get a 350 camaro guy, diehard, to like a 302 ford anything. Same goes for cummins guys, they think their products in question are the greatest ever, and the worst part of the 2 are the parts for them all are the cheapest out there. Just ignore him cuz his smart a** comments, and hatred toward another vehicle make, are just masked by the odd posting that he has a little bit of interest in the topic in question. He has no real business here firing you guys up and then saying hes trying to help a friend.
However I am interested in how to get more hp out of the v10 3v cuz I have a 5.4 3v that doesnt perform satisfactorily to me. I will prob, however, look into some options like the intake, chip, so on that were earlier stated. Thank you
Um if i was buying a car i would buy a Ford. So there i'm not totally biased
That is exactly what I was thinking, word-for-word. I just got back today from buying my '04 SD with a V10. I've been looking for one for a couple months and had to endure all the bad-mouthing from every diesel guy I know. Hey, if you want a diesel, great, buy one and shut up about it already. But here's a funny story that happened this morning: I was coming up Donner Pass in Nevada, and it's a long pull. I was in the left lane, going about 65 or so and passed a Dodge diesel dually with a utility box. He was going about 60 or so in the right hand lane and as I went past him, all it took to bring out the "short-man syndrome" was him seeing the "V10" emblem on my fender. He stomped that thing to the floor and passed me back in a cloud of black smoke. I about died laughing, I could just read his mind, "AIN'T NO WAY IN HELL SOME GASSER PASSIN' MY CUMMINS UP THIS HERE HILL!!" I swear that tickled me all the way home...
Don't worry he was laughing too... even after he smoked you he's still going to make it home using less fuel
HMM here's some physics Cummins 6.7L 360HP 650TQ
V-10 362HP 457TQ
Two hundred ft lbs shouldn't make his truck feel like its towing a boat. I don't need reminded how awesome my diesel is i'm looking for stuff to help out the V-10 which you seem to care about. And you sound somewhat smart so you'd think you would be a guy who might have an answer. No one is expecting this truck to do a wheelie
2004-2006 Dodge is the only fast truck made. As far a pulling power I know for a fact my Ford v-10 outpulls by a large margin a 2001 Cummins with a 8800# load up any hill. (My uncle has the dodge and we pull the same 5th wheels)

Good job but the 2001 cummins only made 305 HP so tell your uncle to buy an edge EZ. for $300 and he will smoke you and get better fuel economy
