Throw some deeper gears in it(assuming it's geared 3.73's or 4.11) I'm planning on going with some 4.56's once I save up enough coin.
Programmers do help. I'd go with the 5 star tunes and SCT programmer due to what I've heard from other people on here. The main thing for me with the programmer are the shift point improvements. I feel like I have the power, but the transmission doesn't "know" how to put it to the ground. The extra HP gained wouldn't hurt either
As far as intakes go, I'm kinda skeptical on how much you gain vs cost.
(new Hemi makes more power though 383-hp 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 400 ft-lbs in a half ton) not real sure how she'l do for longevity though.
Too bad its short on the torque though... and that it only peakes higher in HP and not higher average across the entire band... lighter construction of the dodge might help make it faster though.
But I'll agree with whats generaly been said... 3.73 or 4.10 might be to wide of gears (I didnt catch if you said what gears he has) and from what I hear an SCT tuner will make a big difference. Since gears are pretty darn costly the first thing I'd look into is a SCT personally.
Hey, I'm not the one expecting record breaking performance out of a stock gas powered truck
It seems like you and your "friend" are meant for each other. You both fail to understand simple physics and the characteristics of a gas engine.
HMM here's some physics Cummins 6.7L 360HP 650TQ
V-10 362HP 457TQ
Two hundred ft lbs shouldn't make his truck feel like its towing a boat. I don't need reminded how awesome my diesel is i'm looking for stuff to help out the V-10 which you seem to care about. And you sound somewhat smart so you'd think you would be a guy who might have an answer. No one is expecting this truck to do a wheelie

I called him he doesn't know what he has for gears. I don't think he's interested in spending that much coin anyway.
All I can add is that my 01 V10 does what I bought it for. If I need more I just jump into the Kenworth, Peterbuilt, or Freightliner. They all are 500 hp. and range from 1500-1900# of tq. lol
im glad u have a cummins too they are great engines...only problem is that crappy a** truck they put em in! get out of here troll.. go borrow some money from the government !!!!!
This is a painful thread to read, I wont lie, I skipped a few posts to ensure I could make it to the end. So far we have basically pointed the obvious out here, A cummins guy is like the chevy guys of the hot rod industry. They only, ONLY like what they have. Try and get a 350 camaro guy, diehard, to like a 302 ford anything. Same goes for cummins guys, they think their products in question are the greatest ever, and the worst part of the 2 are the parts for them all are the cheapest out there. Just ignore him cuz his smart a** comments, and hatred toward another vehicle make, are just masked by the odd posting that he has a little bit of interest in the topic in question. He has no real business here firing you guys up and then saying hes trying to help a friend.
However I am interested in how to get more hp out of the v10 3v cuz I have a 5.4 3v that doesnt perform satisfactorily to me. I will prob, however, look into some options like the intake, chip, so on that were earlier stated. Thank you

That is exactly what I was thinking, word-for-word. I just got back today from buying my '04 SD with a V10. I've been looking for one for a couple months and had to endure all the bad-mouthing from every diesel guy I know. Hey, if you want a diesel, great, buy one and shut up about it already. But here's a funny story that happened this morning: I was coming up Donner Pass in Nevada, and it's a long pull. I was in the left lane, going about 65 or so and passed a Dodge diesel dually with a utility box. He was going about 60 or so in the right hand lane and as I went past him, all it took to bring out the "short-man syndrome" was him seeing the "V10" emblem on my fender. He stomped that thing to the floor and passed me back in a cloud of black smoke. I about died laughing, I could just read his mind, "AIN'T NO WAY IN HELL SOME GASSER PASSIN' MY CUMMINS UP THIS HERE HILL!!" I swear that tickled me all the way home...
LOL! In the near future I will be installing a new exhaust system (long-tube headers, hi-flow cats, dual 2.5" Magnaflow mufflers) on my F350 with the 5.4L engine. I'm tempted to put the "Powestroke" emblem on my doors just to see those diesel guys say, "How did he get that 6.0L diesel engine to sound like that?"
