Yep, I know that feeling. Also helps to have an uncle I can call that's worked on everything from cars to jet engines to military tanks, and friends who will take time to come over and help you.
And no I can't put a white sweater on the line. I know it runs rich, it just doesn't seem to smoke as much as it used to. Then again, I only ran it for a couple minutes.

Hey grant, I let the truck run again for a bit today, still no leaks out of those old gaskets on the valve covers, just had to give them another little tighten for good measure.

As you may be able to tell, I got the key out of the caliper finally.

Odd shade of Green. Came across it at the Junkyard.
The beautiful... yeah right, brake pads. Or what is left of them at least.
That came from "anger" not brake wear.
That came from neglect. Poor baby
Being shiny is bad, right?
I will get a better pic of the shape the back of the rotor is in tomorrow.
It's too dark right now, but it's like the Grand Canyon on that thing!

come to think of it...
the metal on metal friction actually made the back of the rotor a lot smoother than it was before.
Before that, I could have gotten a finger lost in the grooves!

No, those look off the new(er) series. 8th generation at least.
In your second post, first picture, that is what they should look like.
