well, they laid off all the engine builders for the swap to Yates next year.
I think that when they put the last few together before they left, they may have made them " special " if you know what i mean. Just a thought.
Tomorrow I'm gonna call up O'Reillys and price ball joints and some bushing kits for my truck. I plan to fix a couple things if I can before the year's up:
- Rebuild spare carb, fix fuel filter threads, get it tuned right
- Fix front end...replace radius arm bushings, frame bushings for I-Beams, eventually replace balljoints
- Fix auto trans leak at pan gasket
Who knows, maybe if I can get ahold of a nice little manual trans I can convert it over next year. I will need some help though, seeing as the biggest task I've done myself is replace the steering box and pump. :P

Ok, I got a truck from there. about 50 miles east of waco, right?
I would come help, but I cant spend 2 1/2 hours each way to come do it.
Belton has a nice junk yard, you ever head there?
I didn't even know it was there, lol. What's the name of it?
Budget Wrench-a-part.
(254)939-6700
on highway 190 about 5 miles west of I35 in Belton.
they do not inventory the yard, so you have to make the drive to look.
I looked at every 80-86 ford they had, about 20-30.
If you tell me what you need I will try to remember if I saw it.
I can't really think of anything except maybe a factory tailgate in good condition. But that's not even something I could get right now, money's so tight my wallet squeaks. :P
Have you guys ever seen a Humvee rear bumper in person?
Nice. Last time my truck had a factory tailgate was in like '02. Since around that time I've had a flow-through tailgate. Rather neat design, it has a cable connected to the spring-loaded latch pins, where all I do is pull the cable around the center and it unlatches both ends simultaneously.
I saw a couple in person once. It's the Bumper of All Bumpers, lol. Made of plates of solid metal, weighs a ton and a half (or it feels like it)....it's like bolting an I-beam out of a skyscraper to your front end. My cousin has one on his Chevy, and let's just say that a guy who backed into him one day had some serious repair bills. BTW the bumper came out unscathed. lol. Here's a pic of what they look like:
