I finally ordered them and was going through the box. i notice the mounts are not studed and they provide these crappy sheet metal screws. did yall replace them with a screw/nut? what is the 7/8 hole in the middle for?looks like the wire coming out of the bottom of the light will fit through a 1/2 hole. also did yall silcone your holes as well or trust just the foam gasket they provide. thanks

When I did mine, I drilled the 7/8'' hole with a uni bit and I just used the sheetmetal screws that came with them, I just drilled a pilot hole for each one of them, used a little silicon, and never have had a leak. The screws will be fine, just use a screwdriver to install them, not a drill. The studs would be better if you planned on having the cab lights on and off lots of times, otherwise then screws will be fine.
is the 7/8" hole really neccessary? i'd rather drill as small as hole as possible. as you can tell, i'm nervous about drilling the holes. The stud idea i thought of just due to it being more secure and don't ever have to worry about those sheet metal screws coming loose. what do you think
I put cab light on my jeep wrangler. it was just a spur of the moment thing that i've never seen before and it actually turned out pretty good. the lights i put on the jeep had three holes. two for screws and the third for the wiring. the two for the screws pulled the light tight to the roof creating a vacuum for the rest of the light. i could get you some pics of the jeep and see if that helps you at all. thats my only insight.
My thinking too. Just subscribing here. Fixin to do the same thing to the wife's truck. I figured on drilling as small a hole as necessary.
I have put 5 sets on different vehicles.I cut the factory Recon connector off and drilled a hole just big enough for the two wires(silicone around holes and on screws).Ran a direct ground wire with all 5 lights tied together.Ran a hot wire with all 5 lights tied together and to a marker light wire where the lights would run with the headlights or running lights.I did not tie into the headlight switch wires thinking I may burn a wire and lose my headlights in the middle of the night.Just the way I installed several.

Ive done 5 sets also and have used the same technique as riverrat. Tap into the brown wire under the pax kick panel, and there is also a ground point there. I used self tapping sheet metal screws to secure the lights, and a good amount of silicone. When you drill the holes in the roof for the wiring,(unless you use a step bit) you will have a jagged edge or two. Use a wooden block, and a small hammer to flatten out any thing that sticks up.

I left one item out but does not make much difference,I used stainless screws to mount the lights.
