It's new but maybe it's bad. I'm at my wits end!!

.hey what was your problem with the power steering did u figure it out. i have the same problem

i'm not sure yet but it looks like the stock 2000 sd springs are going to add quite a bit of height to my truck i will take pics tomorrow need to get wieght back on the springs to be sure. and the way im looking at this i may have to go with crossover sterring man i should have put the springs under my truck before i cut the frame for 78 250 box

Look at it this way, now you'll at least be able to use an F250 4x4 gearbox and also another gearbox that would work on the outside of the frame with a crossover setup. Gives you a little bit more option on steering gearboxes. And you should still be able to use the 78 box for a crossover setup. From what I've learned I'd rather have a crossover setup or an inverted, but with stock springs, It makes it a bit more difficult. I need to get more info on this though to see what I exactly would need to try an inverted T style with the 78/79 F250 4x4 gearbox and stock springs.

I'm jumping on the wagon now as well. I'm converting to integral.

My truck is stock, and will remain pretty much so. I am using it for plowing.

This is the biggest reason for the swap. I need rock solid durability.

What is the most straightforward swap? I have 78/79 4x4 boxes, and 2WD boxes available to me.

Again, there is no lift, SD springs etc, just a stock truck running 32" tires.

craigwell and powerstroke this is a very in depth subject look up posts by 75350 and you'll be able to make your own choices but from what ive read if you haveno lift the push pull sys is your only option so the best box would be 78/79 box conversion look up bucks 77 posts nice conversion

Thanks craigwell.

I decided not to put the reese hitch in front but I wlill put some D rings on it. I used 78 front spring hangers and I didn't like the way they fit on the frame so I incorperated them into a piece of 2x4x1/4 rectangler box, which will drop my center piont 2 1/2 inches so I will make new rear shackles with the same drop. This is and the sd springs is more lift than I wanted but I guess as the saying goes go big or go home. I have four days off work so I will post pics of progress I hope to get susp and steering done and then I'll start painting the frame I hope bucks 77 doesn't mind but I'm going to use his silver and black paint scheme on my frame I like the way that looked.

Bob:

Thats looking real nice. I do think that the lift wil be greater than expected, thought it will ride real nice. Do keep in mind that the fasteners for the SD springs are metric,so you will have to modify the hamger slightly, or modify the bushing.
I went ahead and installed a 3/4" bolt as opposed to running the 18mm unit, and had to make the bushing in the spring larger to accomodate, but I was pleased with the results.

Yes. Seems to me I've tried that before in another application myself and didn't have a lot of fun.

Time and patience. Actually what I did the first time was use a drill press and a vise to clamp the inner sleeve before the sleeve was cut down. Original sleeves are wider than the spring eye and they can be clamped into a vise. This requires some assistance, as these springs are heavy and difficult to lug around.
In other cases, I have had to use a die grinder and slowly grind away at the inner sleeve.
Many stores carry cylindrical stones that measure 3/4" diameters. These worked the best, though it is still a painstaking process.
