I had just replaced mine, went to a IH dealer, and the one they sold me was blue. Whats the difference. I really had no choice as I was dead on the road, and had to get home, but I dont see a whole lot posted about blue...
Picked uptruck todaywith gray cps. Ford is sending me a check for $109.00 for IH cps that I purchased 3 years ago. If you have changed yours and have a reciept, Ford will refund your money. Still not happy that I no longer have the black one.

Thanks.
Could you tell me what IH dealer is? I think it might be International but don't know what the "H" would be for. Thanks.
Sorry to keep beating a dead horse here folks. Being a nube I want to make sure that I get the right one. I am looking at going to International dealer to get this part. My question is, is International Trucks the same as International Harvester dealers? When I called International Trucks locally and gave them part number PN# 1821720C99 they seemed a little hesitant at first. Then they told me that they had four in stock that appeared to be either black or very dark blue. Would I be better to go to Ford and get one for a spare or is this the right part. Thanks for the help
Well, from what I understand is that the International, and the Ford CPS are not the same. The IH CPS is better at resolution and gives a slightly better idle and smoothness.
The Ford CPS is 25 dollars, and the IH one is more then 100.
I bought the ford cps for my spare...
When I went for the recall I parked in the lot and removed my CPS and then told them my truck's parked, go change it, lol.
The service manager wasn't exactly happy, but he understood as he owns a 7.3. Now I have a grey, blue, and 3 blacks. Currently running black.
Anyways, Ford black and IH black (T444e) are the same, at least mine are. $143 from Ford or $109 from IH when I bought them, all have the same part number on them.
IH blue (DT466) has a stronger magnet, seems a smoother idle in winter, and advances timing a tiny bit. $109 from IH a few years ago. Used to be the hot ticket, not anymore I guess.
I don't know much about the Ford grey, other than the cylinder contribution thing, ran it for like 5 minutes to get home and change back out. $25 or something from Ford. Probably made in China, lol.

Finding an "old" black one on the shelf will be like finding a needle in 12 haystacks. Plus, based on all the scrounging that's been posted by people trying to find an old, black CPS...one that hasn't been superceded...I doubt you'll find a new black one.
Here's a link to an ebay seller who is selling old, "certified working" black sensors.

I'd go down there asap and buy them all. The old black ones are impossible to find. I got 3 from Clay at Riffraff while he still had them. C99 is the latest revision and the last one. Now they only make the grey ones.
I've bought a lot of turbos from that eBay guy. Texas core has some great deals and I trust his descriptions. I use the ps turbos with my 5liter turbo kits with great sucess. I'm making an adaptor now to use the superduty turbo with a t4 flange so that I can have the smaller exh housing and wg.
Back to the cps topic. I'd buy the black cps from texascore without worry. That's me though.

Their customer service was excellent.
When I received two sensors from them, one was black and the other was the dark blue version. And the one black one I received had a little damage to the face of the sensor that inserts into the engine.
Vicky sent me two replacements immediately, no questions asked, and told me to keep the first two she sent.
