because of 16 terrorist cowards, 8 years ago today, 343 FDNY/FDNY EMS, 23 NYPD, and 37 PAPD HEROS paid the ultimate price because they put the lives of complete strangers ahead of their own. and lets not forget the civilians who died because their own safety took a backseat to saving their coworkers lives. kinda shows the American spirit, huh? in the words of Bryan Adams song Never Let Go ;"Can you lay your life down, so a stranger can live?"
no wonder kids wanna grow up to be fireman and policeman. it shows the kind of person who these very underpaid and overworked (and sometimes unappreciated) people are. makes me proud to be a second generation firefighter.
where were you when you got the news? I remember I was in 8th grade english class when our teacher told us the news. the school wouldnt let us watch the TV (like they sometimes did). when I got home, I just watched the news in awe. I remember the rest of the day I was in a state of shock, along with the rest of the nation.
never forget those who lost their lives saving complete strangers, and NEVER forgive those who carried out those cowardly acts.
Afternoon Brian and Dave.
I was backing into my garage when I heard the 2nd plain just hit. I had a day of pricing and paperwork to do and I got GLUED to the TV.
My wife has a photo of me at the top of the towers observation lounge and we also have a photo from the day we got engaged in the lobby of the towers in front of the X-mas.
Brain did you ever get to go see the trains in Madison ?

wow. my dad was home that day, and he heard our fire chief come over the fire radio that a plane had hit the twin towers. my dad thought he was kidding till he turned on the news.

I was in third grade. Wasn't quite old enough to know what exactly was going on or the ramifications it would have. I remember dad watching the news when we got home and that's when it actually hit me that we'd been attacked.
If you get off going south bound at the Mungertown road exit ( I think #60 ) take a left at the end of the ramp, then follow to RT1 then take a right on RT1 they are right there up on the over pass.
I was just there at about 3:30 and they had all kinds of stuff on the tracks.

9-11-01 Never forgive. Never forget.
They say time heals everything. I beg to differ.
wow. thanks, I feel old now. and I agree with you Pete, I had to turn off the TV today because I was getting too angry about the terrorists. I wanted to catch a place to afganistan and whop some terrorist @$$. Darryl Worrley said it best; "have you forgotten?" I havent. it definetly brought out the patriotism in everyone. I saw American flags everywhere, even painted on the hoods of peoples cars. one guy had "God bless the USA" written in duct tape on the side of his truck. too bad people arent that patriotic all the time.
