Hey Brian,
Just wanted to let you know that Amtrak is doing a bunch of work on the track replacing ties in Madison right near Landon Lumber and Hammonasset Ford on Route 1. In case you wanted to snap some pics. I was just at lumber yard and saw they had a bunch of equipment on the tracks.
what do you do when 80,000lbs doesnt squish the 5th wheel plate down so you can get the new pins in?
remove weight, take the pin out, grind the beveled edge a little more, lubricate it some more.........AND PUSH IT IN BY HAND?! 3 hours of smashing it with a sledge hammer, trying to squish the new bushings to line the holes up with a loaded trailer, and it wont budge. grind 1/32nd off of it, and it slides in easily, sent the last inch home with a LIGHT HAMMER TAP.
what a night. hope everyone is out enjoying thirsty thursday in celebration of FRIDAY TOMORROW!!!!!!
