alaskanp71, great to see another local member! congrats on the excursion, i'm hoping to get myself a expedition also here soon so i can have all three real ford suvs (explorer, expedition, excursion) but i agree the excursion is so much more truck then the expedition ccould ever be.
rb8484, yep i'm over there also
i've been buying the cheaper HID kits off ebay since 2007, the first kit i put in my dads truck in the summer of '07 and its still woking great and at $100 shipped for a hi/low kit you cant beat it. i find no reason to spend a huge amount on them beause in the end i can buy like 3 kits for the price some are paying for a bi-xeon kit.
i got a SCT3 tuner from mike at 5 star...WOW is all i can say. the power differance is outstanding. drivablity is improved 10 fold with the transmission changes. it doesnt hunt for gears anymore. the TQ converter locks instantly, O/D doesnt kick in till about 61mph which is perfect for me since i live in a hilly area. i havent seen much of a differance in MPG but thats because i've been driving it hard..ALOT of WOT..it brings such a grin to my face...best money you can spend on performance IMO
and thank you to everyone else, i'm very lucky to live in such an amazing state.
well after a month or so without a wash i was just sick looking at my baby. so i ran her through the touchless carwash. put her in the garage and went at it. i clay bared, then waxed her and polished the wheels and bumpers. added my SCT emblem and v10 decal to the rear. oh and also painted the wheel wells up..makes a huge differance!
looks good. I'm kind of afraid to break out the clay bar and wax for the beast. 2 or 3 days later I may be finished! Between that and my boat its going to be a long spring for waxing.

I took it even a step further. I used to work at a used car lot. I did everything from sell to detail and fix the cars. (Small lot.) Alot of the wheels now are very open which allows a clear view into the brake rotors/calipers. I would take the wheels off and paint not only the wheel well but the rotor edges and calipers. Any paint that got on the rotor surface would burn off pretty quick with a little spin down the road. It would make the brakes/rotors look great and kept me from getting the "Why are the brakes so rusty?" question.
AlaskanEx Great looking truck! It looks alot like mine. I would like to post some pictures but haven't figured out how yet. I did get them into my profile page. Looks like there are a few people from around here on this site. Jeff
thanks scott! when spring comes around in 3 months or so and i can put the 20s back on i'll have to do the same. they have large openings in them and you can see everything very well lol.
alaskanp71, thank you! and yes our trucks look very vey much alike! very nice! with the amount of members i'm thinking about seeing if this summer everyone would like to try and do a get together..theres atleast 5-7 of us i bellieve.

If you wait until summer, my Ex will be in hibernation...
I let it rest all summer, unless something needs to be hauled. Then the vert comes out.
aww, could she come out for a special occasion? lol
thanks house dad..it took awhile but what you end up with is well worth it.
now ofcourse since i shined her all up its going to get above freezing, which then causes road spray which turns the truck brown but luckly it will be easier to get clean next time since she was just waxed!
i'm hoping to get some decent money back on tax returns and hopfully put that into some mods. new a/t tires for the 20s for summer time and a new front bumper(paintable) to go with my '10 super duty bumper and paint everything to match...we'll see if it all works out...fingers crossed!
well i added a few things tonight...new personal plates, a new windsehild banner which i absolutly love haha. also used the ol girl to pull my f-250 plow truck out when i got her stuck.
the decal...this is what it looks like when you look at it.
this is what it looks like in somebodys rearview mirror.
have not done much with the truck other then put gas in it latly. i did remove the skid plate on the bull bar and the foglights i had down there since i had bent it so bad on some snow banks so far this winter. i think it looks alittle cooler without it anyhow?
we got some new snow and it was still light out after i got home from work so i snapped a few pics in the snow.
the snow is stacking up in the yard if we get much more idk where i'm gonna put it.
i'm pretty happy spring is on its way, the snow is melting and i can see some grass coming through. the snow piles are melting every day so this pic was from the other day at work. i got asked if i was "playing king of the moutain with myself" lol they said i was gonna be stuck at the end of the day(she did sink in alittle more) but she idled right off
It must be even better in the great North after those hard winters. I don't know how you guys can deal with that cold. After watching some shows like "tougher in Alaska" and other things, all I can say is that it is too cold for me!!!
Love the pics of Alaska! I went to Alaska in Feb of 03 to visit relatives in Fairbanks. I rented a "fullsize suv" and luckily got a Ford Excursion! Drove it the whole week anywhere I could and instantly fell in love! Took about two years to find and make the right deal on mine, wish I'd bought one sooner. Plan on some day taking the trip from here in Minnesota to Alaska in the X. Looking at the SC3 tuner from 5 star, did it really up the performance that dramatically? Looks as if I need to call 5 star! Keep the pics comin, I get jealous every time I see em!
