I am hunting for a good used F150 around a 2007 or 2008 years instead.
Them who like there new trucks i'm glad you do they just are not right for an old codger like me that wants to drive it myself not be told what i may do by a computer that cant see the road.
You'll have to go back to 2003 then because they were the last ones with a direct throttle cable. The 2004+ trucks use drive by wire so you request throttle and the computer decides how much you get. You get some throttle lag and I think torque management when it shifts.

Why not a new one other than the computer boogy man stuff?

If state of the art safety systems deter you from buying a new F150, then you will have a lot of choices. I have an 84 F250 4x4 that may suit you fine. Then again it has shoulder belts and the am/fm radio will keep you from playing your harmonica.
I like old steel too, but my wife and family will be in this 09 we have and safety is my number one priority when buying a vehicle. I have had enough experiance with these systems as a 23yr. veteran, factory trained, technician to put my faith in them as well as my family's well being.

When in 4 wheel drive and need to get thru mud and snow my 2004 spins as much as i allow by throttle.
It doesnt have a computer telling it that it spun and needs the horsepower chopped to no spin power levels.
Spinning is what gets it thru the deep stuff.
I have found a nice 2007 FX4 I am buying.

Thanks ClearlyBC. I think an 04 FX4 is an awesome truck. If you can, post some pics when the deal goes thru.
forum threads are useless without pics!

Update: So I purchased a used 2007 Ford F150 SuperCrew FX4.
The previous owner returned it from a lease agreement and its well cared for and just 58,200 kilometers. It has factory instaled towing package including differential gearing of 3.73 and a 5.4 liter motor.
Many thanx for the guidance and advice provided as I looked for a new truck.

It's obvious that you can't read as the 09 can turn the TC TOTALLY OFF!!!!!!!!!

Whatever.

According to Ford who I called and 2 Ford technicians and owners themselves.
No it cannot be turned off 100 Percent.
You need to check your facts before you type.

BC i can tell you that who ever you spoke to was wrong. I tested it the other day after someone on here said that in the manual it can be completty shut of and they were right. I hit the rev limter and TC did not turn back on. I didnt try it loads though so after a few mins it may turn back on.

My friend went with me in his 2009 and we turned it off then started testing it by spinning the tires as we drove on the sand by the edge of the river. It was alowing the tires to spin at first, then finally would cut in and reduce power very abruptly.
So it apears it alows spinning at early stages and then stops alowing the truck to spin as it gathers speed.
This was confirmed to me by the service departments of 2 diferent Ford dealerships also.
Reading on here that some says it can be turned off completely I then called the second dealership to confirm and they as well say it is a speed sensitive item that will be applied at about 50 kilometers and hour ( 30 Miles per hour) even if turned off.

I gotta try that tonight. My Expy acts like a drunk who has been kicked in the junk whenever I get frisky in the loose stuff
Even if you press/hold the TC button for 5-10 secs (until it start flashing) to "turn off the tc"....it turns back on after a certain speed (25mph or 30mph i cant really remember what I read in the man).

Im going to see if my dealership will disable it if I ask super nicely.
