Im taking all my interior out at the moment to prep it and paint it. Im also fixing up the dash pad thanks to Em! Cant wait to see what it looks like when im done.
Anyways im taking apart the gauges area right now. I got it all apart from dash and the the cord to MPH and circuit board are unplugged, but at the bottom there is a single little white cord that i cannot figure out how to unplug! So can anyone help me!!!! Thank you in advance
Damnit i figured thats what it is. Oh did i tell you that they must of way over tightened it in the factory? Cause they have it buried into the plastic and i cant get a socket around it! lol
Guess ill just break the dang plastic peice over it.
Hahaha yessir i have, you should see this mess right now, i got basically all the interior torn out right now haha. Id say its going fairly well though.
Btw, has anyone taken out their "FULL" dash before? Ive gotten what it seems to be all the screws out and its still stuck in there and feels sturdy, think i might have to paint a few peices inside my truck lol.
I removed my entire dash once. Keep looking there are a lot of screws/bolts holding it in. Gently tug at it to find the areas with the most resistance and then start scrounging.
Okie doke. Do you think its worth taking the time to remove it for paint? Or just paint around it inside the truck? Cause alot of the interior in it now doesnt show so it wouldnt matter.
Im gunna go pry on her some more! Just painted gauges white so i should have them done here soon and ill show the progress of it all lol
Painting it out of the truck would be easier, but removing it is a PITA. It would depend on how comfortable you felt doing it. If you already have the rest of the interior removed, the glass is all you really have to worry about overspary on. Just mask off the glass and leave your doors open for awhile. Have you pulled the carpet/floormat if you have one? I used this oppurtunity to remove the surface rust from my cab floor and undercoat it.
Actually i got a bit of a question on the floor mat. I have the rubber formed mat throughout truck.
Well underneath it is a padding (kinda like you would see under your carpet at home.), and its wet from it raining inside my truck. Should i try and just rip this stuff out or what? Wouldnt that cause the floor to rust out extra fast if it gets through the paint?

That wet padding sitting there all the time will make the floor rot away faster than letting it dry out quickly.
Find the leak and fix it.... or close your windows when it's raining.
