Actually Dupli-color makes the stuff i used, it was at our local advanced auto for 7.19+tax. An i used two cans to cover the whole inside. I had to let it dry over night, and it is a tad delicate so careful. But once i get my padding over it shouldn't get hurt a bit i think.
Im in the middle of cutting out my carpet padding for the inside at the moment, and will get a picture of it up when im done.
Got the padding molded, but not sure what im gunna do for the actual floor. Im trying to repair the old rubber fitted mat but its not working out too well yet. So i think i might just get some carpet, for now atleast.
Went to the junk yard today and grabbed some gauges, and a pair of the fender lights. Did happen to see a pretty good shape tan dash pad while iwas there. Thinking about grabbing that next time.
I personally like the lock-jaw pliers on your wiper switch. Seriously, I am enjoying this thread because you are doing what I plan on doing down the road.
The wiper, i had taken off since i was doing all my interior. But dont wanna put **** on yet cause its a pain to take on and off. An i had driven to a friends house than night so i figured id just use those.
The electrical tape..... ahhh well so when i first got my truck is when i put my stereo in. So another friend and i are working on the stereo and i got my other friend sitting at the steering wheel. This guys one of the most jittery OCD person you would ever meet. Hes always gotta be doing something. Turns out he used 3 rolls of electrical tape on my steering wheel before we were done. (as why you can see 2 colors lol)
Oh, just redid that stereo cause back when we did it we did a ****ty job and my speakers were cutting in an out.
Also in the middle of putting all my interior back in. Laying carpet down temp so i dont mess up floor and so i can put my bench back in too drive. Been sitting for the past 3-4 days...
At one point in time I owned 1000 yards of electrical tape...not sure where I'm going with this, just the first thing I thought of when I saw all that tape. Think I need to eat something...been too long and think I'm starting to digest my own organs.
Okay anyone here good with fixing body lines and spacing of fender/doors ect.. Think they could help me and run through a few things with me?
First off my problem just started because i put in my new door weather stripping. Now my doors dont close right. The doors edge wants to stick out 1/4 of an inch or so. An in order to close it completely you must really really slam it.
I started messing with it, and now i some how managed to cause the front fender to rub. (this is all on the passangers side) with the door. Now originally that fender was messed up because it was too close to the body, (needed to move away from the body more to align with the door.) So now i got some of the fenders bolts out to help it move and not rub for now. But i figure i need to fix the doors first than i can do the fender.
So any, ANY help would be very gratful!!! Thank you.
While it is a bit of a PITA I find that the easiest way to line up the doors is to remove the fender and line up the doors to the back of the cab. Then align the fenders to the doors and hood. Its a lot of messing around with alignment but it will let you get everything straight again.
Yes, but there is also adjustment in the door striker too. I believe it is a T45 torx bit that you need to loosen it. When I did mine I removed it entirely and got the door lined up properly then I put it back in in about the right place and tightened it and closed the door. If it wasn't right I loosened it moved it and tried again till I got it right.
I would not remove the front fender just to align the door.....
You just need to keep at it and move it a little at a time. I always start at the striker and get that lined up first, then keep moving the front to get the gap all the way around the door tight. You then line the fender back up to the front of the door.
Everything is back in place and put on (excluding the dash pad right now).
The other day i re rigged my seat cover to make sure it says on good (nothing some good ol 25 lb big game fishin line cant do).
Got the seat put in, than finished putting all my interior peices back in, and than got my rubber mat put in.
I noticed that since i put in the carpet padding, it really helps with keeping the sound out, (not sure about heat yet.), but another plus is that because the floors thicker now, it causes the black mat to fit real well and tight.
Also got my exhaust done, took my cat off and put a striaght pipe in. Gotta take it too a guy i know to get it welded though (has some exhaust leaks atm.
Also played with my door and got it where i needed but i still need to line my fender.
Overall im very happy of the interior right now, and it feels real nice to have it all back together!! Heres a pic of it now.
P.S! Anyone have any ideas of a good steering wheel cover for these trucks? Cause all the ones ive seen are to fat for these skinny skinny steering wheels.
hey right on! congrats on finishing up! it's looking great!...i'm well behind you now as i'm stalled while i wait for my weatherstripping to arrive...tick tock, tick tock
