Well i didnt make as much progress as i wanted. I've been dicking around trying to get the dash apart too much. I decided i got all that i can get out and i think im ready to paint.

So im off to a few different stores at a nearby town to find interior paint. I was wanting to use the dupli-color interior paint they make, and was thinking about using the ahesion spray thay have to make sure it sticks to the plastic interior good.

If i cant find the paint i want from them i found a paint that walmart sells thats for plastic that i will prob end up using. Heres some progress pictures of things, i also got a few other peices painted black (outside gauge cover, and radio bezel.

HA!! oh my gosh it looks almost exactly like mine does right now! It's like we're doing the same project but far away from each other! I freakin love your white gauges and i'm thinking seriously about pulling mine out to do them that way. (Dont worry, the steering wheel is mounted correctly, it's just cranked way around so the truck doesnt roll down my steep driveway.)

Hahaha, nice em! Great minds think alike

Im getting ready to rip my bench out also and pull the floor. But we had rain today so i havent gotten much done. Just alittle painting.

Em, if you like the way the gauges look than i suggest to you to try it out. I didnt think it was hard at all to do! For the lines i suggest you use perm markers. (i got a pack of 8 different colors that worked great for a dollar at the dollar store here!)

pulling the seat was a breeze. my dad got me a seat in great shape from the JY out of a 92. wont be QUITE right for the model but will do for now. i have a seat from an 80 in my garage but it'll need recovering and i need a seat in the meantime. (the one i pulled out was a disintegrating disaster of grossness) as for the white gauges, yeah i think i'm gonna have to do it. i was looking at psychstang's thread on it back when he did it and i love his too.

I hear ya on the permanent marker. I used a silver one to redraw the silver trim on my radio/heater bezel and my instr. cluster bezel and it looks like original.

keep up posting the pics! i love seeing how things are lookin.

By the looks of your pics, you have the Spruce interior.

If I were you I would keep it that color. In all my travels, I have only ever seen 2-3 trucks with that green interior and they are pretty rare.

I personally love that color because of it's uniqueness. Nutmeg and a Light Cream are other really rare colors that I have only ever seen 2-3 of out of thousands of trucks.

Tell, me about it. My 1981 has a Nutmeg interior.

I would also leave it spruce. But I'm biased as Green is my favorite color,...

I have had a really good result with the krylon fusion paint that is made for repairing old faded plastic toys. They have a range of colors. This stuff has not flaked yet and I painted the door panel and dash 2 years ago.

I did this on my 1979 truck. I two toned the door panels grey and white. It was easy to tape off and did not peel paint when I removed the tape.
I washed it with dawn detergent and let them dry. After drying I wiped them with rubbing alcohol and a tack rag.
The paint covers well without losing detail in the panels.

My interior is all dark green in my 83. I think it is hunter green. I found a factory rubber floor mat in the JY today that I want to swap out my green carpet for.

Are you going to paint your truck green.

Dag nabbit Stosh. lol i like the color of the interior really and wouldnt mind it being the same. But i was so sick of my dash pad being all torn up, so i redid it by how em did hers. So i figured id have to paint everything so id match. It sucks though cause ive heard that the green is a pretty rare color.

No, I used light coats. Do not try to rush it since you will have to look at it all the time. Make sure you shake the can really well also.
