Removing instrument cluster help

I have several lights out and I've decided to replace them. I've got my haynes out and it makes it seem like a lot more work than I imagined. Is there an easy way to remove?

1984 F-150, auto

Simple.

1 remove the 3 screws along the op if the I/C trim panel(screw into the bottom of the dash pad)
2 remove thee Headlight and wiper *****.( there is a little notch where the rod goes into the ****,if you spin the ****, you will seeit. Take a 90* pick or small screwdriver and get in the slot, and push in the back of the **** while pulling on the ****.)
3 I/C trim panel is loose. Pull out ward on the top. Once past the dash pad pull upward. Then pull loose any a/c air hoses. And twist off of Steering column.
4 if you have an auto. Remove trim around the column. Yoy will see a mall white plastic cable held on w a screw. Remove the screw, but kppe track where the cable was located .take the loop of the cable off the pin.
5 remove 4 screws holding cI/C to dash. Pull out as far as you can, disconect any electrical plugs and "squeeze the white ring on the speed cable to disconnect it.

Install is reverse of removal. I WOULD CHANGE ALL THE BLUBS WHILE IN THERE

I started to write this up on how to, but changed my mind.

It's been covered a couple of times already and I just don't have the energy to do it again......




Seems like Brad has more patience than I do this morning.

Finally got around to this today. Headlinght **** was a PITA. It was held in place with a tiny stripped out alan head screw. I had to drill it out.

Speedo cable wasn't held in by the clip. It was just sitting in there.There is part of a clip there, but where the rest of it went is anyone's guess.

I did find an old doobie tho

The circuit board has some bad spots where it is peeling.

Do I just replace the bulb? I notice it has some blue covers in the cluster anyway to remove these?

The blue covers should just pull off. The bulbs just simply twist out of area. If you take the blue covers off your lights wont be colored anymore, but at night your visiblity will be alot better. Yes just replace the bulbs.

That must of been a aftermarket ****. I have not seen a factory Ford **** with a set screw before.

I didn't even bother to try. I figured it was so dried out it wouldn't even be worth the effort.

For the record it looks so much better now. It cost me $20 in lights, but it looks great.
