I posted about this some time ago but can not find the thread.
I am now in the planning stages for what I want to do to rejuvenate my 95's engine. It still runs great, but its getting really high in miles.
I would like to get a factory replacement engine, but have heard from several people that it is no longer available through Ford. One Ford dealer I called said the same thing.
Does anyone know what the real options for a dealer installed crate motor? If so, what would the part numbers be for my truck? Is more information needed than my signature?
I'm not sure exactly how soon I am going to do this, but just want to know what I can get.
you can pick up reman'd engines anywhere, but I'm pretty sure they don't do dealer factory replacement engines for trucks this old anymore. They are 3 gens past it already
Thats just it though. I want a new motor that was built as well as the motor I have now. I don't want just any old crappy reman from the autoparts store.
there are so many different ways to go about a new push rod motor for your truck. the 5.0 has more than the 5.8. if your looking for a new 5.0 and dont want a reman im sure shopping around on the net you cuold find a decent deal that wont break the bank too much. i would personally look around town for the 5.8, but thats just me.
if you have the cash flow i would get a stroker engine from FRPP they look so pretty.
I hear where you're coming from Texasguy001. In my opinion, no reman, higher performance or not, is ever going to be as good as far as durability and reliability as the one that came in the truck from the factory. I've thought a lot about what to do when the time comes for my 95 as well. There were some posts awhile ago about an engine available form Ford that was very complete (timing cover, water pump, oil pan, I can't remember if it had an intake though). It was reman but looked like the best bet I've seen.

Do you remember where you saw it. Was it in a catalog?
if you check ebay you can find some remans better than your stock engine. or you could splurge on a crate engine with 10:1 compression
Thanks for the input, but I would rather not get an engine off of ebay. If I have any problems with it it would end up being a real hassle. I would rather be able to just go back to the dealer and let them fix it.
